BMW is launching its next generation X1 SUV in the third Joytown festival that is scheduled to be held in Bengaluru on January 28 and 29, 2023. Bookings are open at dealer level for a token amount of Rs 50,000, which is likely to go up to Rs 2 lakh after the bookings open officially.Deliveries of the SUV are speculated to start by March 2023
A big chrome -heavy kidney grille fringed by slim headlights with upturned L-shaped DRLs new BMW X1 looks identical with BMW 7 series. It got chunky heavy-knit wheel arches and flush door handles. The new X1 is little bigger than the outgoing current model and is longer than the Audi Q3.
From inside, X1 interior design is identical with the 2 Series Active Tourer sold abroad. Interior has been designed more upmarket than earlier,gets a curvy display of 10.7-inch touchscreen and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. The cabin boasts of a large 500-litre boot and has been given more space for the rear-seat occupants.
The next gen X1 is consistent with BMW’s FAAR architecture, which will also verbratify the upcoming new-gen Mini Countryman. Globally, the X1 is available with two diesel and two diesel engine options with 48V mild-hybrid technology. These engines will be mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The petrol and diesel engines are powerful than before and are available with an all-wheel drive system.
With a declared range of up to 437km,the X1 also recieves a dedicated EV model known as iX1.
The new X1, after launch, will compete against the current crop of compact luxury SUVs, along with the Mercedes-Benz GLA, and the newly facelifted Volvo XC40, and the recently launched Audi Q3. The new X1 SUV is going to be pricier than earlier. It is expected to be in the price range of Rs 45 lakh to Rs 50 lakh
Four more BMW cars, SUVs to be launched next month
BMW is likely to launch a total of five models which will include new X1 in January 2023. It will include the new-generation 7 Series along with its electric counterpart – the i7 – the X7 facelift and newly updated BMW 3 Series Gran Limo.
