Honda O Series SUV Concept Can Be Showcased at Bharat Mobility Expo 2025

Honda is preparing to introduce its O Series SUV concept at CES in Las Vegas next month. This will be the second model in the company's ambitious seven-model O Series portfolio. The previously unveiled Honda O Series sedan prototype will be on display with this announcement. Production of the SUV, which is based on Honda's brand-new custom platform, is scheduled to start in 2026.

​Honda will first manufacture the O Series cars at its US facility in Ohio, which has been modified to support both ICE and EV production. An EV and battery production facility will be operating in Ontario, Canada, by 2028.

New Era for Honda's Electric Vehicles

The SUV and other O Series cars embody Honda's vision for EVs of the future. These models, which are based on a platform that was created from the ground up, give priority to efficiency, space optimization, and cutting-edge technology. With the use of small e-axles that enable a lower-mounted drivetrain, the series will have both single-motor and dual-motor powertrains, increasing aerodynamics and freeing up inside space.

Compact E-Axles: These e-axles are 8mm thinner than those of competitors, optimizing space.

Powertrain Options

• Entry-Level Models: Rear-wheel drive with a 245hp motor on the rear axle.
• Dual-Motor Versions: Four-wheel drive, combining a 245hp rear motor and a 68hp front motor.

Battery Technology and Range

The SUV will feature a nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) battery with a capacity between 80kWh and 90kWh, offering an estimated range of 480km. Honda's focus on reducing battery thickness by 8mm enhances vehicle design and efficiency.

Advanced Safety and Driving Dynamics

Safety and handling are key aspects of the O Series platform:

• Designed to disperse collision impact to the sides, reducing the need for extensive battery protection areas at the front and rear.
• Integrated with the suspension, brakes, and regen system for superior handling.
• Flexes during cornering to enhance balance and stability.

Software-Defined Vehicles with Autonomy

Every O Series model will be a software-defined car that can be updated over the air to provide new features and capabilities. They will use sophisticated cameras, radar, and lidar sensors to provide level-three autonomy in specific scenarios.
