The company started as a dockless electric scooter sharing service, allowing users to locate and unlock scooters using a mobile app. The company expanded rapidly, raising over $600 million in funding and becoming one of the fastest startups to reach a valuation of $1 billion. Bird scooters are not yet available in India, but the company has plans to enter the Indian market soon. The company has partnered with Revolt Motors, an electric bike maker, to launch its scooters in India in 2023.
