The Tata Sierra 2025 marks the return of an Indian legend, blending retro charm with modern technology. Launching in November 2025, it will be available in EV and petrol versions.
Tata Motors is making a revolutionary comeback with the anticipation of the Tata Sierra. The iconic Tata Sierra is ready to make a comeback into the Indian automotive market this November 2025. The 4x4 off-roading SUV was originally introduced in the early 1990s. The Sierra has made history as one of India’s first SUVs with a distinct three-door design. Now, Tata Motors is all set to revive this legend in an all-new avatar, blending nostalgic appeal with cutting-edge design, safety, and electrification.
The upcoming Tata Sierra 2025 will redefine Tata’s SUV lineup, positioning itself above the Harrier and alongside mid-size lifestyle SUVs like the Mahindra Scorpio-N and Toyota Hyryder. Designed on Tata’s Gen 2 architecture, which supports both ICE and electric powertrains. Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming Tata Sierra 2025.
Tata Motors’s decision to revive the Sierra is more than a design exercise. The company first showcased the Sierra EV concept at Auto Expo 2020, which generated immense buzz for its retro-inspired styling and future-ready aesthetics. Since then, Tata has evolved the concept into a production-ready SUV that balances nostalgia with modern practicality.
The upcoming Tata Sierra captures everything that enthusiasts loved about the iconic model, now with a premium update. The front fascia of the car offers a closed-off grille for the EV version and a sculpted air intake for the ICE variant. However, for the 2025 iteration, the Sierra might come with a sharper roofline and shorter front and rear overhangs. The 1990s model had R15 MRF tyres, while the new 2025 model will get all-new sporty 19-inch alloy wheels.
Talking about the interior features, Tata promises a modern, tech-driven cabin that matches global SUV standards. We can expect dual-connected screens for the instrument cluster and infotainment, a new-generation three-spoke steering wheel, ambient lighting, and sustainable materials inspired by the brand’s commitment to eco-friendly mobility.
Other features, including a panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, front & rear parking sensors, window sunblinds at the rear, and an auto-dimming IRVM, have been confirmed through the teasers. For safety, Tata Sierra might offer 6 airbags as standard, along with ESC and ABS. You might also get an ADAS Level 2 under the package.
One of Sierra’s most exciting aspects is its dual powertrain strategy. It will be available in both EV and ICE configurations, leveraging Tata’s flexible Sigma platform derived from the Gen 2 architecture.
The EV version, however, is expected to launch first, positioning Tata as the only Indian manufacturer offering a heritage SUV with a fully electric heart.

The Tata Sierra 2025 is expected to be priced between Rs 11 lakh and Rs 28 lakh (ex-showroom) for the ICE variants, while the EV versions could start around Rs 29 lakh (ex-showroom) in India.
The upcoming Tata Sierra will compete with a wide range of SUVs, including the Mahindra Scorpio-N, Toyota Hyryder, Hyundai Creta, and the future Maruti Suzuki SUV.
Tata Motors has confirmed that the Sierra will debut in November 2025, with deliveries expected to begin early next year. The official reveal is anticipated to showcase both powertrains, with the EV variant taking precedence in the brand’s new-age sustainability roadmap.
The upcoming Tata Sierra marks more than just the return of an Indian automotive icon. It symbolizes Tata Motors’ journey from the rugged off-roaders of the 1990s to the technologically sophisticated mobility solutions of the present. The upcoming new Sierra 2025 is poised to capture both hearts and headlines. When the SUV officially hits the roads this November, it will not just resurrect nostalgia.
