Tata Motors recently introduced the Tata Sierra EV, expanding its electric vehicle lineup. The new Sierra EV features an updated design, advanced technology, and all-wheel-drive capability. In comparison, the VinFast VF7 is a mid-size electric SUV with a modern design and a focus on technology. This article compares the Tata Sierra EV and VinFast VF7 across key parameters to help buyers make an informed decision.

Design and Dimensions

The Tata Sierra EV retains the classic Sierra silhouette but adds EV-specific design elements. It offers a strong road presence, standing 154 mm taller than the VinFast VF7. The Sierra EV measures 622 litres in boot space, which is 85 litres more than the VF7's 537-litre boot. The VinFast VF7 is 210 mm longer and has a 110 mm longer wheelbase, resulting in greater cabin space, especially in the second row.

Both models offer dual-tone colour schemes. The VinFast VF7 provides three optional dual-tone themes, while Tata offers the exclusive Nainital Nocturne shade on the top-end AWD variant of the Sierra EV.

Features and Technology

The Tata Sierra EV comes in several variants, including the entry-level Earth and Pure trims. Even the base Pure variant includes a comprehensive list of features and safety technology. The top-end Sierra EV trim offers a 12-speaker JBL sound system with Dolby Atmos, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and power-adjustable driver and co-driver seats. The Sierra EV also features a 540-degree surround-view camera and front parking sensors.

The VinFast VF7 offers 19-inch wheels across all trims, while the Sierra EV provides 19-inch wheels only on the top variant and 18-inch wheels on others. Both vehicles include advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), electronic stability control (ESC), and tyre pressure monitoring systems (TPMS). The VF7 has a safety advantage with 7 airbags, compared to 6 in the Sierra EV.

Performance and Range

The Tata Sierra EV is available with two battery packs: 63 kWh and 75 kWh. The 63 kWh battery offers a claimed range of 565 km. The 75 kWh battery provides two range options: 665 km for the rear-wheel drive (RWD) version and 624 km for the all-wheel drive (AWD) version. The Sierra EV's lower 63 kWh battery delivers a higher range than the VF7's 59.6 kWh battery, which offers 438 km.

The VinFast VF7 is available with two battery options: 59.6 kWh and 70 kWh. The 70 kWh battery offers two range options: 532 km and 510 km. The Sierra EV's lower variants are RWD, while the VF7 starts with front-wheel drive (FWD). Both models offer AWD in higher trims. The Sierra EV produces 209 PS from the rear motor and 140 PS from the front motor.
