SWM Motorcycles in India

Brand brief & history: SWM is known as Speedy Working Motors that manufactures and sells 6 off-road models and street motorbikes. Founded in 1971 in Milan, Italy, Sironi Vergani Vimercate Milano started off with making off-road and trial two-wheelers in the ‘70s and ‘80s, but production stopped by 1984. The brand was restarted in 2014 backed by China's Shineray Company and was into producing motorcycles with displacement capacity ranging between 300cc and 650cc.

MotoRoyale, the Kinetic Group's multi-motorcycle brand, had launched the Italian motorcycle firm
SWM in India and the first motorbike to be introduced under SWM branding was the SuperDual T Adventure Touring bike.

SWM traces its roots in Italy and since 1971 it is originally into the production of enduro, trials and motocross bikes. Financial instability and manufacturing hassles pushed SWM out of the industry in 1983, but got new life when the Chinese two-wheeler maker Shineray revived the brand in 2014.

SWM offered the Superdual T bike as a middleweight adventure segment product, which rivalled similar category motorcycles in India for a brief period. The Italian brand had announced its entry into India a few years ago, until the BS6 emission norms kicked in across India, hence it is presently absent. It was offering its products as a Completely Built Unit (CBU). The Superdual T is considered to be one of the biggest single cylinder Enduro motorbikes to have been retailed in India to date.
