The new gen Kia Seltos has the makings of a winner.
We drove the 1.5-litre turbo petrol paired with the 7-speed dual-clutch automatic, a combination aimed at buyers who want effortless performance without compromising everyday comfort. After spending time behind the wheel, it’s evident that this Seltos feels more polished, better equipped and more grown-up than before.

Visually, the 2026 Seltos looks sharper and more confident without being overdone. The redesigned front end gives the SUV a wider, more planted stance, with sleeker LED headlamps and a bolder grille design that adds presence. The profile remains familiar but cleaner, while the new alloy wheel designs and subtle detailing help it stand out without chasing unnecessary drama. At the rear, the connected LED tail-lamps add a premium touch, especially at night. Overall, the design feels contemporary and well-judged — modern enough to look fresh, yet restrained enough to age well over time.

Step inside and the improvement over the previous Seltos is immediately noticeable. The dashboard layout feels more cohesive, dominated by the wide dual-screen setup that combines the digital instrument cluster and infotainment system. The screens are crisp, easy to read and logically laid out, making them intuitive to use even while driving. Material quality has taken a step up, with soft-touch surfaces in key areas and a general sense of solidity across the cabin. Features like ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting and a premium sound system give the interior a distinctly upmarket feel. Importantly, physical controls for essential functions remain, which makes daily usability far better than a fully touch-dependent setup.

Rear seat comfort is one of the Seltos’ stronger suits. The bench offers good thigh support, ample legroom and enough headroom for taller passengers, making it suitable for long journeys. The back seat doesn’t feel like an afterthought, and three passengers can be accommodated for short trips without discomfort. Rear AC vents and charging ports further improve everyday practicality. Boot space is generous for the segment and easily handles family luggage or weekend travel gear. The loading lip is practical, and folding the rear seats opens up additional space when required.
On Indian roads, the 2026 Seltos feels well tuned for comfort. The suspension absorbs broken surfaces and uneven patches without feeling unsettled, which makes city driving and highway cruising equally relaxed. At higher speeds, the SUV feels stable and predictable, inspiring confidence during long drives. Steering is light at low speeds and easy to manage in traffic, while remaining sufficiently weighted on the highway. It may not offer enthusiastic feedback for spirited driving, but it delivers exactly what most buyers in this segment expect — ease, control and reassurance.

The 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine is the highlight of this variant. Power delivery is smooth and progressive, with strong mid-range performance that makes overtaking effortless. The engine feels responsive without being aggressive, and it suits both relaxed driving and quick highway runs. The 7-speed dual-clutch automatic generally shifts quickly and keeps the engine in the optimal power band. In slow, bumper-to-bumper traffic, there can be moments of hesitation at crawling speeds, which is typical of this gearbox type, but once on the move, the drivetrain feels refined and capable. Noise levels are well controlled, and the cabin remains calm during steady cruising.
The 2026 Kia Seltos Turbo Petrol Automatic builds on a proven formula by adding maturity and refinement where it matters most. It looks more premium, feels better built on the inside, offers genuine rear seat comfort and delivers performance that feels effortless in everyday use. While it isn’t aimed at driving enthusiasts, it excels as a comfortable, feature-rich and easy-to-live-with midsize SUV. For buyers looking for a balanced combination of performance, comfort and modern technology, the updated Seltos makes a strong and convincing case.
