BMW Motorrad has launched the F 450 GS in India, starting at Rs 4.70 lakh (ex-showroom). The motorcycle is available in three variants: Base at Rs 4.70 lakh, Exclusive at Rs 4.90 lakh, and GS Trophy at Rs 5.30 lakh. Deliveries are set to begin in June 2026. Local manufacturing has enabled BMW to offer competitive pricing, making the F 450 GS one of the most accessible premium twin-cylinder adventure bikes in its segment.
Key Highlights
- BMW F 450 GS launched in India at Rs 4.70 lakh ex-showroom
- Available in three variants with deliveries starting June 2026
- Features a 450cc twin-cylinder engine producing 48 hp and 43 Nm torque
- Equipped with four riding modes and a 6.5-inch TFT display
Engine and Performance Features
The F 450 GS features a newly developed 450cc twin-cylinder engine. This engine delivers 48 hp at 8,750 rpm and 43 Nm of torque at 6,750 rpm. A 135-degree offset crankshaft ensures smoother performance and a unique exhaust sound. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox. Shift Assistant Pro allows clutchless upshifts and downshifts. The Easy Ride Clutch (ERC), a segment-first, enables stall-free low-speed riding and semi-automatic-like operation in traffic.
Design, Chassis, and Equipment
The F 450 GS adopts BMW’s GS design language, featuring an ‘X’ signature full-LED headlamp, tall stance, and a pronounced front beak. The 14-litre fuel tank and two-piece seat with 845 mm height support both seated and standing riding positions. The GS Trophy variant stands out with a Racing Blue Metallic color scheme with red and white accents.
The motorcycle uses a steel tubular frame with integrated forged parts for balanced strength and weight. Suspension is managed by USD front forks and a rear monoshock with adjustable preload and rebound damping. The F 450 GS rides on tubeless tyres—100/90-19 at the front and 130/80-17 at the rear—mounted on cast aluminium wheels. Braking is handled by a 310 mm front disc with Brembo 4-piston caliper and a 240 mm rear disc.
Technology and Features
The F 450 GS comes with a comprehensive electronics suite. It offers four riding modes: Rain, Road, Enduro, and Enduro Pro. The Enduro Pro mode, standard on the GS Trophy, is tailored for off-road use with adjustable traction control and deactivated rear ABS. The 6.5-inch TFT display, best in its class, supports BMW’s multi-controller interface and offers display modes like ‘Pure Ride’ and ‘Sport’. These modes show data such as lean angle, braking input, and traction control intervention.
Additional features include heated grips, adjustable levers, a USB-C charging port, and smartphone connectivity. These enhance comfort and usability, especially for touring. With local production and a strong feature list, BMW aims to strengthen its presence in India’s adventure motorcycle segment. The F 450 GS will compete directly with the Honda NX500 and attract buyers considering the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and KTM Duke 390.
