Its s very successful scooter targeting female riders. It was launched with masculine appeal. Technically the scooter has been redesigned with bits and louder graphics. The Ray-Z is housed with new features like a smoked-finish visor, a new instrument panel, a carbon fibre patterned seat and aluminium rear grab-bars. The front has a V-shaped headlights while the rear has a stylish tail lamp assembled with clear-lens indicators. Despite of having a lean and thin sculpted body, the underseat storage, with a 15.5-litre capacity, is very spacious for a full-face helmet and the floorboard has enough place for the legs. The Ray-Z is powered by the standard 113cc engine which generates 7bhp and 8Nm of torque via a CVT gearbox transmission. Yamaha claims that the roller-rockers and carburetor have been modified while the suspension has been tweaked a bit. The engine is now more refined and suitable for city commute purpose. The Ray-Z has older drum brakes on both wheels along with a new ‘UBS’ system which links both the front and rear brakes when the rear is applied. It is optional and will be changed for Rs 500 extra. The vehicle is priced at approximately Rs 52,000 and is offered in four colour schemes of red, blue, white, and dark blue. It faces strong competition with scooters like the Honda Activa 5G, Honda Dio, TVS Wego, Hero Maestro and TVS Jupiter.
