BMW has revealed the 2022 2-Series Active Tourer that is based on an architecture design. To be launched in the overseas market come February 2022, the premium hatchback will be built at BMW’s Leipzig plant.

BMW has revealed the 2022 2-Series Active Tourer that is based on an architecture design. To be launched in the overseas market come February 2022, the premium hatchback will be built at BMW’s Leipzig plant.
BMW will offer the car in as many as 11 colours and based on the model chosen, the premium hatchback will come with 16- or 17-inch wheels, while wheels up to 19 inches in size can also be fitted to it.

Heavily raked A-pillars, a narrow window area with a rising beltline, flush-fitting door handles and large wheels can be seen along the sides, while behind, there are split LED tail lamps, a muscular rear bumper and a small windscreen that fits in the shapely boot lid.

Speaking of variants, the 2022 2-Series Active Tourer comes in standard, Luxury Line and M Sport grades and it has a cabin inspired by the interior of the iX electric SUV.
There are horizontally placed air vents and metallic trim on the dash, while a multifunctional sports steering wheel and a minimalist centre console are also present.

The cabin has a lot of storage areas, along with 4 USB ports, 2 12 V power sockets, a slidable, split/folding rear bench and a minimum boot space of 415 litres.
In terms of features, the new BMW 2-Series Active Tourer comes with a 10.25-inch curved display, a 10.7-inch cluster, new generation iDrive based on BMW Operating System 8, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, BMW Maps along with Park Assist with reversing camera.

In addition, customers also get an interior camera, 2-zone automatic climate control, rain-sensing wiper, automatic tailgate operation, and automatic headlight activation.
What’s more, customers also have plentiful optional extras including adaptive LED headlights, wireless charging, sport seats, panoramic sunroof, adaptive M suspension, Active Cruise Control with Stop and Go function, and more.
All variants come with a 7-speed Steptronic dual-clutch transmission. In the mild-hybrid variants, a 19 BHP electric motor is integrated into the gearbox. BMW says the line-up will expand further with the addition of 2 plug-in hybrid models in 2022.

Standard safety features the 2022 BMW 2-Series Active Tourer comes with, apart from the regular passive systems, are Cruise Control with brake function, Lane Departure Warning, Evasion Assistant and front-collision warning.
