India’s EV four-wheeler market posted strong June 2026 growth, with Tata Motors leading the chart and several brands recording healthy month-on-month gains.
The electric four-wheeler market continued to gain momentum in India in June 2026. Total sales reached 31,388 units, up 12% from 28,017 units in May 2026. Tata Motors stayed firmly at the top of the leaderboard, while Mahindra & Mahindra and JSW MG Motor India strengthened their positions with healthy month-on-month gains.
The latest OEM-wise sales data for June 2026 shows a market that is expanding, but not evenly. Several brands posted solid growth, a few saw mild corrections, and a handful of newer names are still finding their footing. For automakers, the trend is clear: demand is broadening, competition is intensifying, and electric mobility is becoming more visible in India’s mainstream market.
Electric 4Ws Sales Report June 2026: Market Outlook
Tata Motors led the market segment with 12,074 units and a 38.5% market share, followed by Mahindra & Mahindra at 7,682 units and JSW MG Motor India at 5,807 units. Together, the top three OEMs accounted for the bulk of India’s electric four-wheeler volumes in June, underlining how concentrated yet rapidly evolving the market remains.
Growth was especially strong for BMW India, which rose 30.7%, while BYD India and Maruti Suzuki India also delivered double-digit gains. On the other side, Hyundai Motor India and Tesla India Motors recorded declines, highlighting that product timing, brand positioning, and portfolio depth continue to shape monthly performance. Let's check out the top electric OEM brands and their sales performance for the Indian automotive market.
Rank 1. Tata Motors
Sales: 12,074 units
Tata Motors retained the top position in June 2026 with 12,074 electric four-wheeler sales, rising from 10,875 units in May. That 11% growth kept its market share at a commanding 38.5%, making it the clear benchmark in the segment. The result reflects Tata’s strong retail reach, established EV portfolio, and continued buyer confidence in mass-market electric mobility.
Rank 2: Mahindra & Mahindra
Sales: 7,682 units
Mahindra & Mahindra continued its impressive run with 7,682 units, up from 6,552 in May. The 17.2% increase gave it a 24.5% market share and reinforced its position as one of the most important challengers in India’s EV race. The brand’s momentum suggests that its electric SUV-led strategy is resonating strongly with customers.
Rank 3. JSW MG Motor India
Sales: 5,807 units
JSW MG Motor India posted 5,807 units in June, compared with 5,268 units in May, marking 10.2% growth. With an 18.5% share, the company remained a major force in the premium and mid-premium EV space. Its performance shows that MG’s electric lineup continues to attract attention among buyers looking for modern features and a strong urban EV image.
Rank 4. Maruti Suzuki
Sales: 1,902 units
Maruti Suzuki India reported 1,902 units in June, higher than 1,663 units in May, translating into 14.4% growth. While its market share stood at 6.1%, the brand’s improving EV presence is worth watching closely. As India’s largest passenger vehicle maker, even a modest electric push from Maruti carries meaningful weight in the wider market.
Rank 5. VinFast Auto
Sales: 1,398 units
VinFast Auto India recorded 1,398 units, up from 1,277 units in May, reflecting 9.5% month-on-month growth. The brand held a 4.5% market share and continued to build visibility in the Indian EV landscape. For a relatively new entrant, the numbers indicate encouraging early traction and an expanding base of customer curiosity.
Rank 6. BYD India
Sales: 868 units
BYD India sold 868 units in June, compared with 753 units a month earlier, a rise of 15.3%. That performance gave the company a 2.8% market share and kept it among the most closely watched EV brands in the country. BYD’s steady climb suggests that its premium electric offerings are finding a more stable audience in India.
Rank 7. BMW
Sales: 489 units
BMW India delivered one of the strongest percentage gains in the ranking, jumping to 489 units from 374 units in May. The 30.7% surge lifted its market share to 1.6%, showing clear demand for luxury EVs. BMW’s result underlines how premium electrification is gaining traction, especially among buyers seeking performance and prestige together.
Rank 8. Kia India
Sales: 448 units
Kia India sold 448 electric four-wheelers in June, slightly lower than 453 units in May. The 1.1% decline was modest, and the brand still held a 1.4% share. Kia remains relevant in the EV conversation, but its June result also shows how competitive the segment has become for brands trying to scale consistently.
Rank 9. Hyundai Motor
Sales: 348 units
Hyundai Motor India logged 348 units in June, down from 474 units in May, a decline of 26.6%. Its market share fell to 1.1%, making this one of the softer performances in the report. The drop suggests that Hyundai may need stronger product momentum or sharper retail pull to regain pace in the EV space.
Rank 10. Mercedes-Benz AG
Sales: 234 units
Mercedes-Benz AG sold 234 electric four-wheelers in June, up from 217 units in May, reflecting 7.8% growth. With a 0.7% market share, the brand remains a niche but important player in the luxury EV category. Its numbers point to steady demand from affluent buyers who are increasingly open to electric luxury mobility.
Rank 11. Volvo Auto
Sales: 36 units
Volvo Auto India registered 36 units in June, compared with 33 in May, a 9.1% increase. The brand’s 0.1% market share is small, but the growth signals continued interest in its premium electric lineup. Volvo’s position in the market remains specialized, but it continues to benefit from its early EV credibility.
Rank 12. Tesla
Sales: 35 units
Tesla India Motors sold 35 units in June, slightly below 36 units in May, marking a 2.8% dip. Its 0.1% share shows that the brand is still in the early stages of market penetration in India. Even so, Tesla’s presence continues to draw attention because of the brand’s global reputation and long-term EV expectations.
Rank 13. Toyota Kirloskar
Sales: 32 units
Toyota Kirloskar reported 32 units in June, up from zero in May, giving it a fresh entry in the electric four-wheeler tally. The move is notable because Toyota’s presence in this data set signals early activity in a segment where the company has so far been cautious. While volumes remain small, the direction is important.
Rank 14. Others
Sales: 35 units
The “Others” category recorded 35 units in June, down from 42 units in May, a 16.7% decline. That brought its share to 0.1%, suggesting that smaller and less visible players are still struggling to make a meaningful volume contribution. In a market growing as quickly as India’s EV space, consolidation around stronger brands appears to be accelerating
