Maruti Suzuki, the leading automaker in India, is gearing up to launch the fourth-generation Swift, a beloved hatchback that has consistently topped sales charts. The new Swift has been spotted during road tests, showcasing a larger and more sporty design. Anticipation is building as enthusiasts eagerly await the official launch in the coming months.
Enhanced Cruising Capabilities
The new Swift promises an enhanced driving experience with its updated design, reducing air resistance by approximately 4.6%. The hatchback boasts improved aerodynamics, reduced noise, and vibrations, making it a smoother ride. Despite being 90 kg heavier than its predecessor, the test mule displayed impressive cruising capabilities during high-speed tests on Dwarka Expressway. These enhancements are expected to make the new Swift a versatile choice for both city commutes and intercity journeys.
Fuel Efficiency and Power

The upcoming Swift is set to feature a new Z Series, 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder engine with a mild-hybrid setup. This powertrain is anticipated to provide 83 PS of maximum power and 108 Nm of peak torque, ensuring a balance of performance and fuel efficiency. With these improvements, users can expect notable fuel cost savings. The existing K series dual jet, dual VVT petrol engine, which offers 22.38 km/l with manual transmission and 22.56 km/l with AGS, has been a fuel-efficient option for Swift users.
2024 Swift – New Features

The 2024 Swift exhibits a refreshed front fascia with a new grille, redesigned headlamps, and distinctive DRLs. The bumper and polygonal fog lamps contribute to the hatchback's sporty appeal. International variants are equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), requiring a radar module installation on the front grille and a relocation of the Suzuki logo to the bonnet. The side profile features rear door handles instead of the C-pillar mounted units, and a set of new sporty alloy wheels adds to its aesthetic. The rear of the new Swift is characterized by quirky C-shaped tail lamps. Inside, the hatchback boasts a revamped dashboard, AC vents, climate control, and an impressive 9-inch freestanding touchscreen infotainment system.
Production Plans

Production of the new Swift is scheduled to commence later this month at Maruti's Hansalpur plant in Gujarat, the same location where the existing model is produced. In response to anticipated high demand, Maruti aims to manufacture around 20,000 units per month. However, the expanded equipment list may lead to an increase in the Swift's pricing. The current Swift is currently available at a starting price of Rs 5.99 lakh.
