Skoda Auto has recently launched the all-new Kodiaq RS with a limited 50 units in India. This sport version SUV will go on sale parallel to the standard Skoda Kodiaq in the Indian automotive market. The 2026 Skoda Kodiaq RS and the regular Kodiaq are built on the same premium SUV foundation, yet they speak to two very different buyers. The RS focuses more on performance, while the other leans into comfort, value and everyday practicality.

For the Indian market, the standard Kodiaq remains the brand’s practical three-row flagship with generous space and a well-loaded equipment list, but the Kodiaq RS turns the same into much more sportiness with racing DNA unleashed.

Let's take a tour of the Skoda Kodiaq RS and find out how it is different from the standard Skoda Kodiaq.

Skoda Kodiaq RS vs Standard Kodiaq: Exterior Styling

The first and foremost differences and similarities can be seen through the design. Both SUVs carry the same Kodiaq identity, which means similar proportions, a three-row cabin layout, and the same modern Skoda design language. However, a few attributes make them look apart, like the standard Kodiaq have a clean, saturated, boxy design that looks decent from the front end.

On the other hand, the Skoda Kodiaq RS features a deep red-toned color running through the body panels to the sportier bumpers. The RS logo signifies racing DNA behind the wheel. With the Kodiaq RS, the driver receives a more aggressive visual package with gloss-black treatment. The Kodiaq RS also gets a stronger road presence thanks to its blacked-out detailing across the grille, mirrors, roof rails, window surrounds, real badging, and bigger wheels than the standard Kodiaq.

Skoda Kodiaq RS vs Standard Kodiaq: Interior Design

The interiors of both cars look identical, except for the color theme and designing. The standard Kodiaq focuses on a premium, practical, and user-friendly atmosphere. It offers a well-organized dashboard, three-row seating, and a feature-rich layout with black-finished upholstery completing the cabin area.

However, the Kodiaq RS keeps the same cabin layout but changes the mood completely. Its all-black interior theme, red contrast stitching, RS-specific seats, and sportier trim pieces give the cabin a much more driver-focused personality, making it feel more special every time you step inside.

Specs and Features

Talking about the specs and features, both the SUVs push further in terms of exclusivity and standard equipment. In terms of features, the standard Kodiaq offers a 12.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a HUD digital driver's display, wireless smartphone charging, and connected car tech.

The Skoda Kodiaq RS builds on that with a richer equipment set that includes a 13.5-inch larger touchscreen, RS-specific graphics, a premium 13-speaker Canton audio system, ventilated and powered front sport seats, a massage function, a panoramic sunroof, three-zone climate control, and a more performance-oriented 10.25-inch digital driver's interface.

Skoda Kodiaq RS vs Standard Kodiaq: Safety Aids

The standard Kodiaq already brings a strong safety package, including nine airbags, stability control, hill-assist features, a rear camera, and the newer ADAS suite on select trims. Skoda has clearly used the 2026 update to raise the SUV’s safety and convenience credentials without changing its mechanical character.

The all-new Skoda Kodiaq RS goes a step further by pairing that equipment with a more advanced driver-focused setup. It includes ADAS, a 360-degree camera, and added chassis technology.

Skoda Kodiaq RS vs Standard Kodiaq: Engine and Performance

The biggest difference between the two SUVs is under the hood. The standard Kodiaq uses a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 201 HP and 320 Nm, which is more than enough for a premium family SUV and well matched to relaxed daily use.

The Kodiaq RS uses a tuned EA888 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that produces 265 HP and 400 Nm, giving it a much stronger performance edge over the regular model. It also posts a 0-100 kmph time of 6.3 seconds and a top speed of 231 kmph, which moves it into a completely different conversation.

Pricing and Market Outlook

Pricing is where the divide becomes impossible to miss. The standard Kodiaq starts at Rs 36.99 lakh and goes up to Rs 46.99 lakh in India, depending on the trim. That places it in the premium family-SUV bracket without drifting too far from its value proposition.

However, the Skoda Kodiaq RS is launched at Rs 66.99 lakh, making it far more exclusive and significantly costlier than the standard SUV. That premium is the price of performance, limited availability, CBU import status, and the RS badge itself.

Which one is a perfect drive?

The standard Kodiaq is tuned to feel polished, comfortable and easy to live with, which is exactly what most buyers in this segment want. Its appeal lies in the balance of space, refinement, and premium features.

The Skoda Kodiaq RS, meanwhile, is built to deliver an emotional payoff. Skoda adds dynamic chassis control, progressive steering, and upgraded brakes, so the SUV feels tighter, more reactive, and much more capable when the pace rises.

CarBike 360 Says

The 2026 Skoda Kodiaq RS is the better pick for buyers who want a family SUV with genuine performance character, while the standard Kodiaq suits those who prioritize comfort, practicality, and a lower price tag. Both deliver premium appeal, but the RS clearly adds exclusivity, stronger road presence, and a more exciting drive.
