BMW Reveals All-New Fourth-Gen X3 SUV

BMW has unveiled the all-new fourth-generation X3 SUV, which sits on a new platform, boasts new designs inside and out, and includes a long list of features and advanced technology. An all-electric version, the iX3, is set to make its global debut next year.

Design and Features

Exterior Design

  • Platform: The fourth-gen BMW X3 (codename: G45) adopts BMW’s new naming pattern, dropping the ‘i’ suffix from xDrive30i and switching the number’s position, now becoming 30 xDrive.
  • Dimensions: The new X3 is slightly longer and wider than its predecessor.
  • Grille: Features a large-format kidney grille, illuminated on the flagship M50 xDrive, optional on the base 30 xDrive, with slats positioned horizontally on the M50 and tilted on other variants.
  • Headlamps and Wheels: New-look headlamps with L-shaped indicators, 19-inch alloy wheels standard, with optional 20- and 21-inch versions.

Interior Design

  • Display: Features BMW’s curved display with the iDrive 9 infotainment system, first seen on the current X1.
  • Seating and Steering: Newly designed heated sport seats, flat-bottom steering wheel, and the new woven fabric instrument panel available from MY2025 models.

Powertrain Options

X3 20 xDrive

  • Engine: 2.0-litre turbo-petrol with mild-hybrid system.
  • Power: 208hp and 330 Nm torque.
  • Performance: 0-100kph in 7.8 seconds, top speed 215 kph.

X3 20d xDrive

  • Engine: 2.0-litre diesel with mild-hybrid system.
  • Power: 197hp and 400 Nm torque.
  • Performance: 0-100kph in 7.7 seconds.

X3 30 xDrive

  • Engine: 2.0-litre four-cylinder with 48V mild-hybrid setup.
  • Power: 255hp and 400 Nm torque.
  • Performance: 0-100kph in 6 seconds, top speed 210 kph.

X3 M50 xDrive

Engine: 3.0-litre turbocharged six-cylinder.
Power: 398hp and 580 Nm torque.
Performance: 0-100kph in 4.6 seconds, top speed electronically limited to 250 kph with performance tires, 210 kph with all-season rubber.

Transmission and Drivetrain

All engine options come standard with AWD and BMW’s 8-speed automatic gearbox, with no other transmission options available.

Launch and Competition

India Launch

The new BMW X3 is expected to launch in India by the end of this year or early next year.

Rivals

Key competitors include the Mercedes-Benz GLC and the Audi Q5.

Upcoming Models

BMW India is also preparing to introduce the new 5 Series LWB to the market soon.
The fourth-gen BMW X3’s new design, advanced technology, and varied powertrain options make it a strong contender in the luxury SUV segment.
