Upcoming electric car launches in 2026 in India

India's electric vehicle market surges forward into 2026, with manufacturers targeting mass-market segments amid falling battery costs and expanding charging infrastructure. Compact SUVs and affordable people-movers dominate the confirmed launches, promising ranges over 400 km and prices under Rs 25 lakh to challenge ICE dominance. The previous edition brought seven all-new electric powerhouses from different manufacturers. Now we are poised to see 9 new EVs in India in 2026.

Government incentives and localization pushes make 2026 pivotal, as homegrown giants like Tata, Maruti, and Mahindra clash with global entrants like VinFast and Hyundai. Expect fiercer competition in urban mobility, boosting adoption rates beyond 10%. Let’s take a tour of the upcoming electric car launches in India in 2026.

1. Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara

Tata Motors electrifies the Sierra in Q1 2026 on the Acti.ev+ platform, with RWD and AWD from launch. For the Indian customers, the car will be powered by a dual-motor AWD, which promises a 400-500 km range. The car is expected to be priced from Rs 17 lakh to Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom) in India.

Retro-modern design hides advanced safety and Gen-3 architecture perks like faster charging. Sanand production ensures quick volumes for lifestyle SUV fans.

4. Kia Syros EV

Kia unleashes the Syros EV in Q1 2026 on the K1 platform, rivaling the Punch EV. The car is expected to launch under a two-battery configuration setup. The base variant is expected to be equipped with a 42 kWh battery, while the top-spec model will be powered by a 49 kWh battery, claiming around 300-355 km WLTP range.

The car might be able to produce a power ranging from 97 HP to 115 HP, with prices ranging from Rs 15 lakh to Rs 20 lakh. Stylish exteriors, ADAS, and connected features from the global Inster EV cousin boost appeal. Localization cuts costs for high practicality.

5. VinFast Limo Green

Expected Launch Date: March 2026

VinFast enters the MPV space with Limo Green in February 2026. This electric MPV will be the first 7-seater vehicle to be introduced by the brand for the Indian market. Under the chassis, the car will be powered by a 60.1 kWh battery that produces around 201 HP and claims a mileage of around 450 km on a single charge. With starting prices ranging from Rs 22 to 26 lakh, it targets the BYD eMax 7.

6. VinFast VF3

Expected Launch Date: Second Quarter of 2026

The second car on the list from VinFast is the micro electric SUV, the VF3. The micro-SUV will be launching in the second quarter of 2026, undercutting the MG Comet at Rs 8-10 lakh. The car will be powered by an 18.6 kWh battery, claiming a 200 km range with 43 HP of power. For the 2026 iteration, the brand might be offering a BaaS model and a compact footprint targeting first-time EV buyers in metros.

7. Hyundai Inster EV

Expected Launch Date: Late 2026

Hyundai's Inster EV (HE1i) lands in late 2026 from Sriperumbudur with Exide batteries. Talking about its power unit, the car might offer 42 kWh for the base variant that can produce 95 HP of power and a 49 kWh battery for the top-spec variant that revs out 113 HP of power.

The brand offers a claimed mileage of about 300 to 355 km on a single charge.
Considering its features, the car offers Level-2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, and a digital cockpit, adding premium touches to a compact form. For the Indian customers, the car will be priced around Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom) in India. This car might give tough competition to the upcoming Tata Punch EV.

8. Tata Punch EV Facelift

Expected Launch Date: Mid 2026

After the launch of the Tata Sierra EV, Tata Motors will be making arrangements for the launch of the Tata Punch EV facelift. The brand has not revealed any further details about the upcoming Tata Punch EV. The 2026 edition of the Tata Punch ICE variant might make its official debut in January 2026.

Talking about its powertrain, the car might offer a 25 kWh and 35 kWh battery configuration. Unlike the interiors of the Punch EV, the car might carry forward the interior aesthetics of the upcoming petrol version of the Tata Punch facelift. The prices will likely increase from the current prices, ranging from Rs 9.99 Lakh to Rs 14.4 Lakh.

9. Skoda Elroq

Expected Launch Date: End of 2026

The most-awaited electric car in the list is the all-new 2026 Skoda Elroq. This will be the second electric car after the Enyaq eSUVs, which are expected to arrive in the second quarter of 2026. This electric car from Skoda was shown at the Bharat Auto Expo 2025 and is ready to give fierce competition to its rivals like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and the BMW iX1 LWB.

For the Indian customers, the car might offer 52 kWh, 59 kWh, and the top-spec 77 kWh battery powertrain unit. Skoda claims a 0 to 100 kmph in just 6.6 seconds and a 560 km range for the Elroq AWD. The RWD versions are more likely to be available for India.

Market Outlook

India's 2026 EV launches, led by the Maruti e-Vitara, Tata Sierra EV, and VinFast duo, target sub-Rs 25 lakh compact SUVs/MPVs with 400 km+ ranges. Expect a 15-20% market share surge via localization, subsidies, and infrastructure growth, challenging ICE dominance amid fierce volume wars.

Conclusion

2026 heralds India's EV tipping point: The Maruti e-Vitara, Tata Sierra, and VinFast models democratize 400 km+ mobility under Rs 25 lakh. Localization and subsidies propel a 15-20% adoption surge, reshaping urban transport despite infrastructure hurdles.
