Discover the 2024 Toyota Camry, reimagined for the Indian market with advanced technology, improved design, and unmatched luxury.
After a series of teasers that stirred anticipation among car enthusiasts, Toyota has officially launched the latest iteration of its iconic Camry sedan in India. Priced at Rs 48 lakh, this new model is positioned as a premium offering, with an upgrade that touches virtually every aspect of the car, from design and technology to performance. Despite being built on the same platform as its predecessor, the 2024 Camry is a remarkable evolution of its lineage, making it an attractive proposition for luxury sedan enthusiasts.

The design of the new Toyota Camry has undergone a transformative update, aligning its aesthetics with Toyota's global design language, evident in models like the Prius and Mirai. The front fascia is dominated by angular headlamps that replace the older polygonal units. These headlamps are flanked by boomerang-shaped DRLs, creating a modern, aggressive look. The air dam has been reimagined, now featuring a sleeker and narrower profile.
While the silhouette maintains a semblance of familiarity, subtle changes, such as a more sharply angled roofline and edgier rear quarter glass, enhance its dynamic appeal. The 18-inch alloy wheels are retained, but the rims sport a brand-new design, complementing the car’s refreshed persona. At the rear, minimalistic taillamps add to the sleek and contemporary styling.
While the new Camry retains most of its predecessor’s dimensions, it is 35 mm longer, now measuring 4,920 mm. The width (1,840 mm), height (1,455 mm), and wheelbase (2,825 mm) remain unchanged, but a reduction of 20 kg in kerb weight at 1,645 kg, improving the car’s efficiency and dynamics.
The interior of the 2024 Camry sees a significant overhaul, showcasing a balance of sophistication and technological advancement. A highlight is the new 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which is now seamlessly integrated into the dashboard. This replaces the older 9-inch floating unit and is complemented by a fully digital instrument cluster, marking a departure from the previous analog-digital combination.
Features carried over from the previous model include:
These amenities ensure the new Camry remains a comfortable and luxurious choice for both drivers and passengers.
Safety received a substantial upgrade with the inclusion of Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, the brand’s Level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) suite. New features include:
These additions complement the nine airbags, ABS, electronic parking brake, and vehicle stability and traction control systems already present in the Camry.
Under the hood, the 2024 Camry continues to feature a 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine mated to an electric motor. The electric motor, now upgraded to Toyota’s fifth-generation Hybrid System (THS 5), is coupled with a new lithium-ion battery pack, replacing the older nickel-metal hydride battery.
These enhancements bring a mild boost in performance, with a combined power output of 227 bhp, up by 12 bhp from the previous model. The engine delivers a peak torque of 220 Nm and pairs seamlessly with the eCVT gearbox. The three drive modes being Eco, Sport, and Normal, offer versatility to suit different driving conditions.
Fuel efficiency has also improved, with the sedan now offering an ARAI-certified 25.4 kmpl, making it one of the most efficient sedans in its class.
The latest Toyota Camry marks a significant leap forward, offering buyers an attractive blend of luxury, technology, and eco-conscious performance. While the increased price of Rs 48 lakh places it firmly in the premium segment, the comprehensive updates justify the cost. With its contemporary design, advanced safety features, and improved hybrid powertrain, the new Camry promises to be a compelling choice for luxury sedan buyers in India, further cementing Toyota's reputation in the hybrid sedan market.
