Introduction
The Cooper S is a 3 door hatchback from the iconic British car maker MINI. With a legacy of over 60 years, the Cooper S 3 door hatch comes across as the most affordable MINI offering in India.
Exterior & Design
Along with the dynamic yet iconic silhouette, trademark elliptical headlights and union jack taillamp, the Cooper S gets all the signature design elements that a MINI should have. Also, because of the compact dimensions, the Cooper S comes across as the perfect premium city car.
In the front, it gets the signature round shaped headlamp with DRLs and turn indicators integrated into the outer ring of the headlamp assembly. The vertical air curtains on the edges of the bumper along with the large squarish air intakes on the edges of the lower grille.
From the side angle, one can notice the unique side scuttle with integrated LED side indicator, 17 inch dual tone 7 spoke alloys, door mounted ORVMs, all around cladding including the wheel arch, A/B/C pillars with glossy black/glass finish.
Interior & Features
Despite being the most affordable MINI, the Cooper S gets a plethora of features like an 8.8 inch touchscreen infotainment with navigation & Apple carplay, a 5 inch fully digital drivers display, 6 colour ambient lighting, heads up display, Harman Kardon audio setup, TPMS, adaptive suspension, wireless charging, panoramic glass roof, front & rear fog lamps, lumbar support in front seats, auto headlamps & wipers, adaptive LED lights with matrix function, etc.
Engine & Transmission
MINI offers the Copper S with just one powertrain option i.e. a 2 litre 4 cylinder twin power turbo petrol engine producing 178 PS of power and 280 Nm of torque. Also, it comes mated to a 7 speed double clutch steptronic transmission. With this engine & gearbox combination, the Cooper S can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.7 seconds.

Being a compact three door hatchback, the MINI Cooper S measures 3876 mm in length, 2495 mm in wheelbase, 1727 mm in width and 1414 mm in height.

Customers can select from 9 different colours. These include Zesty Yellow, Midnight Black II Metallic, Nanuq White, Rooftop Grey Metallic, Chilli Red, Island Blue Metallic, Melting Silver III, British Racing Green IV Metallic and Enigmatic Black Metallic.
Segment & Rivals
It rivals the likes of Audi Q3, VW Tiguan, BMW X1, etc. Moreover, it also faces some competition from the EVs like Hyundai IONIQ 5, BYD Seal, etc.
