Kawasaki launched the 2024 Vulcan S middleweight cruiser in India, priced at ₹7.10 lakh (ex-showroom). The new model adds an intriguing color option, Pearl Matte Sage Green, while keeping the fundamental mechanicals intact. The pricing remains unaltered, with the new color scheme being the only significant modification for 2024.
Design and Comfort
The Kawasaki Vulcan S stands out for its low-slung, high-rake design, which provides a comfortable riding position. Its wide handlebars and forward-set foot pegs promote a comfortable posture, making long rides more enjoyable. The touring seat has thicker cushioning for both the rider and pillion, boosting comfort.
Unlike classic American cruisers, the Vulcan S sports an all-black theme on its engine and components, giving it a distinct look. The new matte green color contrasts sharply with the black parts, giving the bike a more modern aspect.
Suspension and Braking
The 2024 Vulcan S is built with a perimeter frame and 18-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels. The suspension system consists of 41 mm telescopic forks at the front and a preload-adjustable mono shock at the back, resulting in a smooth and versatile ride. For braking, it has single disc brakes on both ends, along with dual-channel ABS for extra safety.
Engine & Performance
The proven 649 cc parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine continues to power the 2024 Vulcan S. It produces 60 horsepower at 7,500 rpm and 62.4 Nm of peak torque at 6,600 rpm, and comes with a slick 6-speed transmission. The combination provides balanced performance for both long-distance cruising and city rides.
Features & Specifications
The cruiser has a 14-litre petrol tank and weighs 235 kilograms (kerb). The seat height is a comfortable 705 mm, making it suitable for a wide variety of riders, while the ground clearance is set at 130mm. Riders will also like the semi-digital instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity, which brings modern comforts to a retro-inspired bike.
Competitors
In the Indian market, the 2024 Kawasaki Vulcan S competes with other modern-retro motorcycles such as the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 and the BSA Gold Star 650, making it a tempting mid-size cruiser alternative.
