Winning Solutions Announced

The selection process lasted two years and aimed to identify effective platforms for managing pedestrian flow. CityFlow, developed by CITYDATA AI and Nippon Koei, uses computer vision, big data, and generative AI. This platform monitors crowd movement in real time and helps local authorities respond to congestion points quickly.

Janjatra, created by The Urbanizer, offers a combination of color-coded wayfinding, dynamic digital signage, and tactical urban interventions. These features help redirect pedestrian traffic along important city routes, improving mobility and safety for residents and visitors.

Additional Recognized Platforms

Two other platforms received honorable mentions. Behtarway, by VOGIC AI, is an AI-powered pedestrian navigation tool. Nayichaal, from Prameya Consulting, focuses on improving accessibility for vulnerable populations. Both platforms were recognized for their innovative approaches to urban mobility challenges.

Deployment and Support Details

The winning teams will receive both financial and advisory support to implement their systems across the old city. The initial deployment phase will include the introduction of 15 electric buses. Commercial operations for these buses are scheduled to begin on August 1, as part of a larger city-wide mobility upgrade.

The Sustainable Cities Challenge highlights the importance of technology-driven solutions for managing crowds and improving pedestrian experiences in heritage cities. The collaboration between local authorities and international partners aims to set a model for other cities facing similar challenges.
