Honda ZR V launched in India at Rs 47.99 lakh

Honda Cars India has launched the ZR-V, expanding its lineup with a new premium SUV. The ZR-V enters the Indian market as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) import and is priced at Rs 47.99 lakh. This makes it the most expensive Honda vehicle currently available in India. The ZR-V features a strong hybrid powertrain and a distinctive design that aligns with Honda’s brand identity. Bookings for the ZR-V began last month.

Design and Dimensions

The Honda ZR-V adopts a crossover design with flowing curves and a low-slung stance, avoiding the upright look of many SUVs. The front features a small grille with thick vertical slats, slim full-LED headlamps, LED DRLs, and sequential turn indicators. Chrome detailing around the windows and flush-fitting panel gaps add to its premium appearance. The bonnet has subtle creases, while the bumper integrates air curtains and a wide lower intake.

From the side, the ZR-V displays a long wheelbase, gently sloping roofline, and a strong shoulder line. Body-colored cladding replaces the more common black plastic treatment around the wheel arches and side sills.

The SUV rides on 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. Key dimensions include a length of 4567 mm, a height of 1621 mm, a width of 1840 mm, a wheelbase of 2655 mm, and a ground clearance of 180 mm. The rear design remains clean, with slim LED tail lamps, a roof spoiler, gunmetal skid garnish, and dual exhaust finishers. The ZR-V is available in four color options.

Interior and Features

The ZR-V’s cabin features an all-black theme with leatherette upholstery, a beige headliner, and contrast stitching. The dashboard uses a layered horizontal design with premium soft-touch materials. Metallic trim adds visual width, and the centre console sits high between the front seats, housing the electronic button-type gear selector and drive mode selector. All controls are positioned for easy access.

The front seats are electrically adjustable, with a memory function for the driver. Rear passengers benefit from generous legroom and headroom. The boot offers 380 litres of space, expandable to 1,313 litres with the 60:40 split-folding rear seats. The car offers the following features:

Safety and Powertrain

The Honda ZR-V is equipped with 8 airbags, a level-2 advanced driver assistance system (ADAS), a 360-degree camera, and front and rear parking sensors. It also features all-wheel disc brakes, hill start assist, hill descent control, electronic parking brake with auto hold, electronic stability and traction control, and ISOFIX child seat anchorages.

The SUV uses a 2-liter, four-cylinder Atkinson-cycle petrol engine paired with Honda’s dual-motor self-charging strong hybrid system and an eCVT. The engine is E20 compliant, supporting up to 20 percent ethanol. The hybrid system switches between EV Drive, Hybrid Drive, and Engine Drive for optimal performance and efficiency. Regenerative braking is available through paddle selectors, and drivers can choose between Econ, Normal, and Sport modes.

Rivals in the Segment

At its price point, the Honda ZR-V competes with several models. The Skoda Kodiaq offers three-row seating and a premium cabin with a 2-liter turbo-petrol engine. The Jeep Meridian provides a traditional SUV feel, three-row seating, a diesel engine, and optional 4x4. The Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line focuses on sporty handling with a 2-liter TSI petrol engine and all-wheel drive. The Volkswagen Tayron Life is a five-seater with a larger footprint and European styling.
