2024 Mercedes Benz G580: Luxury automaker, Mercedes has unveiled the all-new Mercedes Benz G 580 globally. The newly unveiled SUV is the first electric SUV in the Mercedes’s G-Class lineup. With the introduction of the electric SUV, Mercedes has taken a new path towards sustainable mobility. Mercedes G580 is essentially an electric G-Class that comes loaded with some advanced features. Talking about the details, the electric SUV comes with a four-motor setup which delivers the same power figure even with an all-electric powertrain.

Mercedes G580 Design

There is no major change in the design language as it continues to come in the older boxy shape and tough-looking design. However, taking note of the recently released poster, it is apparent that the electric SUV comes with some minor changes in the design to enhance the aerodynamic capability for better efficiency and performance. The rest of the things inside the cabin remain the same as the ICE counterparts such as the AMG G63. Except for the transparent hood functionality which allows the drivers to have a look outside, there is no other changes in the interiors.

Mercedes G580 Powertrain

The all-new Mercedes G580 comes equipped with a 116 kWh battery pack which provides a maximum driving range of 400 Km on a single charge. Apart from this, the new G580 comes with underbody protection which is made of carbon and other solid materials.

The new G580 comes with the EQ Technology which helps to give an impressive power output. Talking about the details, it generates 579 bhp of power and 1165 Nm of torque which are even greater power figures than the AMG G63. Because of the instant torque delivery by the electric powertrain, the G580 enables faster acceleration from 0-100 kph in just 4.6 seconds. In addition to this, the G580 features 200 kilowatts fast charging which allows this electric SUV to charge from 10 to 80 in just 32 minutes.

Mercedes G580 Off-road Prowess

The new G580 is a proper off-road SUV with an electric powertrain. It will offer features like maximum fording depth of 33.5 inches, low range mode, torque vectoring for virtual differential locks and crawl function. The new electric G580 also gets adaptive adjustable dampers and two speed transmission for smooth ride on all terrains. 
Apart from all this, the new G-Class electric will be available in Edition One in blue carbon fibre trim. It will also feature a fake engine noise which is officially called “G-Roar” by Mercedes, this fake noise will provide the feel of an combustion engine to the driver.

Mercedes G580 Price

The luxury automaker is still tight-lipped about the price details of the new G580. However, it is expected to come with a higher price tag than its ICE counterparts available in the market.
