Key Highlights

  • Honda Digital Innovation India and T-Hub launched a startup mobility co-development programme
  • Four startups selected for a 60-day proof-of-concept phase with up to Rs 10 lakh funding each
  • Over 300 applications received and evaluated for technology maturity and market suitability
  • The program aims to enhance Honda’s products and customer ecosystem in India.

Programme Launch and Objectives

The program was officially introduced at T-Hub’s Phase 2 campus in Hyderabad. It follows the recent creation of Honda Digital Innovation India, which focuses on digital services and mobility experiences for the Indian market. HDII operates around three main areas: experience, connection, and innovation.

The Honda Innovation Challenge 1.0 received over 300 applications from startups working on various mobility-related use cases. Entries were evaluated based on technology maturity, relevance to the Indian market, and the ability to deliver a working proof of concept within the set timeline.

Startup Selection and Funding

From the initial pool, 25 startups were shortlisted. Four startups were ultimately selected for the program. These include XANE AI, Attento Technologies, AppTestify, and Sensight Technologies (AutoWiz).

Each selected startup will participate in a fully funded 60-day proof-of-concept phase. They will receive up to Rs 10 lakh in co-development funding. The startups will test their solutions using Honda vehicles, real-world road conditions, and operational data. The program will end with a Demo Day scheduled for July 31, 2026.

Programme Impact and Industry Context

The initiative marks a significant step for Honda in fostering innovation within India’s mobility sector. By collaborating with startups, Honda aims to enhance customer experience and introduce new digital capabilities to its ecosystem.

Kunal Behl, Director of Honda Digital Innovation India and Vice President – Marketing and Sales at Honda Cars India, said the challenge offers a chance to co-create real-world solutions. He highlighted the value of engaging startups that bring fresh ideas and disruptive thinking to address mobility needs.

This programme is part of a broader trend in India’s automotive sector, where manufacturers are investing in digital transformation and innovation. Other industry developments include JSW Motors’ recent funding and Bosch India’s focus on localisation and AI deployment.
