Suzuki is set to launch the new Swift Sport model in international markets later this year or early 2025, following the introduction of the 4th-generation Swift. The upcoming Swift Sport will feature significant upgrades, including a mild-hybrid powertrain, improved styling, and additional features. Details about the new model's engine specifications have been revealed.
The 2025 Swift Sport will retain its 1.4-litre turbocharged inline-four-cylinder petrol engine, now paired with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. The electric motor adds 15 PS and 59 Nm to the 150 PS and 240 Nm produced by the combustion engine.
These figures represent a substantial increase in power compared to the standard 4th-gen Swift model. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic, with front-wheel drive.
Key features of the 2025 Suzuki Swift Sport:
- Mild-hybrid powertrain with improved performance
- Reduced kerb weight of 960 kg for a better power-to-weight ratio
- Dimensions: 3,990 mm length, 1,750 mm width, 1,500 mm height
- 2,450 mm wheelbase
The new Swift Sport aligns with Suzuki's long-term sustainability goals, focusing on carbon-neutral fuels and Sustainable Development Vehicles (SDVs). The company aims to minimize waste throughout the vehicle's lifecycle by using eco-friendly technologies and reducing weight to improve fuel efficiency and lower carbon emissions.
While the Swift Sport showcases impressive specifications, Suzuki currently has no plans to launch it in India. The expected price range in Japan is between 2.3 million to 2.5 million yen (approximately Rs 13.56 lakh to Rs 14.74 lakh).
The company's focus on multiple fuel options, including biogas, biofuels, synthetic fuels, and hydrogen, alongside electric vehicles, highlights its diverse strategy for achieving carbon neutrality in the coming years.
