The BMW M 1000 R showcases the brand’s M performance DNA, blending roadster styling with superbike-inspired elements. The motorcycle features dual-flow LED headlights, derived from BMW’s RR models, giving it a sharp front profile. M Winglets at the front enhance aerodynamics by generating additional downforce. At 220 km/h, these winglets increase front-wheel load by about 11 kg, improving stability during acceleration and cornering.

Other design elements include M carbon wheels, brake cooling ducts in the front mudguard, and a Platinum Grey metallic rear frame and swingarm. The bike is available in Light White non-metallic / M Motorsport and White Aluminium metallic matt finishes. Buyers selecting the M Competition Package can opt for Blackstorm metallic / M Motorsport.

The optional M Competition Package adds performance and cosmetic upgrades. These include M carbon wheels, M carbon body parts, adjustable M rider footrests, M GPS Laptrigger, and additional carbon components such as a chain guard, tank covers, and wind deflector. The package also features a pillion seat cover and M pillion package, enhancing the bike’s track focus.

The BMW M 1000 R is powered by a 999 cc water-cooled inline four-cylinder engine, derived from the RR superbike. This engine produces 210 hp at 13,750 rpm and 113 Nm of torque at 11,100 rpm. The motorcycle accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds and has a top speed of 280 km/h.

BMW ShiftCam technology optimizes valve timing, improving torque in the low and mid-range while maintaining high peak power. The engine also features titanium valves, optimized camshafts, and lighter cam followers to enhance performance and reduce weight.

The bike comes with a 6.5-inch TFT display featuring M startup animation and a revised rev counter. It supports OBD connectivity for M GPS Datalogger and M GPS Laptrigger. Riders can choose from multiple riding modes: Rain, Road, Dynamic, Race, and Race Pro 1–3. These modes adjust throttle response, traction control, engine braking, and ABS intervention.

Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) with wheelie control is supported by a 6-axis sensor system. The traction control system is revised from BMW’s RR models for improved performance during aggressive riding. Additional features include launch control, a pit-lane limiter, cruise control, heated grips, adaptive turning light, and a rear USB charging socket.

Warranty and Support

BMW Motorrad India offers a standard three-year warranty with unlimited kilometers, extendable to five years. The motorcycle also includes 24/7 roadside assistance. The launch of the BMW M 1000 R strengthens BMW Motorrad’s high-performance motorcycle lineup in India, targeting enthusiasts seeking superbike-level performance in a roadster format.
