The new Fiat F2X fastback SUV has been spotted testing in India. The heavily camouflaged prototype was seen at a fuel station in Bengaluru. This model is a left-hand-drive vehicle, indicating it is not intended for the Indian market. Stellantis is likely using Indian roads for durability and validation testing. The F2X is expected to join Fiat’s expanding Panda family overseas.

Key Highlights

  • Fiat F2X fastback SUV prototype spotted testing in Bengaluru, India
  • The model uses Stellantis Smart Car platform engineered in India
  • Design closely follows original Fiat Fastback concept styling
  • Expected to feature 12 litre turbocharged petrol engine options
  • Production model to debut globally in 2026 as part of Panda family

Design and Platform Details

The prototype closely resembles earlier European test mules. Key design features are visible despite the camouflage. The front has slim rectangular LED headlamps with pixel-inspired detailing, similar to the Fiat Grande Panda. The upright front fascia features a closed-off grille and a wide lower air intake. The sloping roofline gives the SUV a fastback coupe-like silhouette. Large alloy wheels contribute to its modern crossover look. At the rear, the F2X has horizontally stacked LED tail lamps and a sharply raked rear windshield.

The production-spec F2X retains much of the styling from the original Fiat Fastback concept. The sloping coupe-style roofline, upright front fascia, and squared-off wheel arches resemble the concept cars. The alloy wheels on the test mule are similar to the geometric aero-style wheels from the concept. Slim lighting elements and boxy surfacing continue Fiat’s retro-futuristic styling theme.

Technical Specifications and Market Position

The Fiat F2X is expected to use Stellantis’ Smart Car platform. This platform is also used by models like the Citroen C3 Aircross. The platform was engineered in India. The coupe-SUV body style and proportions suggest a strong link with the Citroen Basalt, sold in India and South America. However, the F2X features more European styling cues and a premium look. It has a more upright front fascia, chunkier proportions, and unique greenhouse styling compared to the Basalt.

International reports suggest the F2X could offer Stellantis’ 1.2-litre turbocharged 3-cylinder petrol engine. Both standard petrol and mild-hybrid versions may be available. Despite testing in Bengaluru, there is no indication that Fiat will re-enter the Indian passenger vehicle market. Fiat exited Indian sales in 2019, but Stellantis continues operations in India through Citroen and Jeep.

The left-hand-drive configuration suggests this test mule is meant for European or South American markets. Fiat plans to officially unveil the production-spec F2X fastback SUV in 2026. The model will be part of Fiat’s larger Panda family expansion strategy.

CarBike 360 Says

With its distinctive fastback styling and renewed focus on modern design, the Fiat F2X could mark a significant comeback for the brand in India. If launched with competitive pricing and strong feature packaging, it has the potential to attract buyers seeking something different in the crowded SUV segment, while also strengthening Fiat’s global product portfolio.
