Honda has introduced 10 motorcycles for the Indian market, including the new Rebel 300 and a locally manufactured Rebel 500. Both models will now be produced in India, which should lead to more competitive pricing than the earlier Rebel 500, which was sold as a completely built unit (CBU) at Rs 5.12 lakh.

  • Honda introduces locally made Rebel 300 and Rebel 500 in India.
  • Both models feature a bobber-style design and a low 690mm seat height.
  • Rebel 500 uses a 471cc parallel-twin engine producing 46 HP and 43.3 Nm

The Honda Rebel 300 and Rebel 500 share the same tyre sizes: 130/90-16 at the front and 150/80-16 at the rear. The Rebel 300 has a kerb weight of 172 kg, while the Rebel 500 weighs 191 kg. Both motorcycles maintain a simple feature set, staying true to their classic cruiser style. They do not include modern electronics such as riding modes or traction control, but both are equipped with dual-channel ABS for safety.

For the Indian market, both models debut a new circular TFT display, replacing the LCD unit found on international versions. This new display has been developed specifically for the locally manufactured motorcycles.

Key Features and Specifications

The Honda Rebel 300 and Honda Rebel 500 share a bobber-style cruiser design. Both feature a teardrop-shaped fuel tank, a round LED headlight, a two-piece seat, and a short, stubby exhaust. The Rebel 300 uses a 286cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces about 30 HP and 27.5 Nm of torque. The Rebel 500 is powered by a 471cc parallel-twin engine delivering 46 HP at 8,500 rpm and 43.3 Nm at 6,000 rpm.

Both motorcycles are equipped with a six-speed gearbox and will be available in standard and E-Clutch variants. Honda's E-Clutch system enables gear shifts without using the clutch lever, though riders can still operate the clutch manually if they choose.

Both models have a low seat height of 690mm, making them accessible to a wide range of riders. The upright handlebar and forward-set footpegs, combined with the low seat, offer a relaxed cruiser riding position. Suspension is managed by a conventional telescopic fork at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear.

Pricing and Market Outlook

Honda has not yet announced pricing or a launch date for either model. More information is expected in the coming weeks. The motorcycles shown are international models used for representation only.

With improved pricing potential and wider accessibility, these models are expected to attract both new and experienced riders, strengthening Honda’s premium motorcycle portfolio while intensifying competition in the cruiser space.
