Hyundai India’s Feb 2025 Sales: Exports Rise 6.8% as SUVs Offset Domestic Slowdown
Hyundai’s Feb 2025 sales dipped 3% to 58,727 units, but exports grew 6.8% and SUVs like Creta, Venue, and Exter dominated. Learn how tax reforms could boost demand.
Hyundai Motor India had a mixed February 2025. Total sales dipped nearly 3% compared to last year, landing at 58,727 units. Domestic numbers took a bigger hit—down almost 5% year-on-year and sliding 12% from January 2025—to 47,727 units. But there’s a silver lining: exports jumped 6.8% to 11,000 units, showing global appetite for Hyundai’s India-made cars is growing.
While sales slowed overall, Hyundai’s SUV lineup stayed strong. The Creta remains India’s top-selling SUV, especially with its new electric variant gaining traction. The Venue keeps winning in the sub-4-meter category, balancing features and fuel efficiency. The rugged Exter micro-SUV is catching on with city drivers, and the family-friendly Alcazar continues drawing buyers with its space and premium touches.
Despite domestic challenges—like geopolitical tensions affecting demand—Hyundai’s betting on upcoming tax reforms and better market liquidity from the 2025 Union Budget to rev up sales. With SUVs driving nearly half its business and electric models like the Creta Electric gaining ground, Hyundai’s banking on India’s love for high-riding vehicles to stay ahead.
Tarun Garg, Hyundai India’s COO, highlighted this export momentum, calling it proof of the brand’s global appeal. He emphasized plans to keep boosting overseas shipments, cementing India’s role as a key hub for Hyundai.
