March 2026 Sales Performance

In March 2025, HMIL recorded 51,820 domestic units and 15,500 export units, totaling 67,320 units. The growth in March 2026's total sales was driven by strong domestic demand, while exports declined from 15,500 to 13,940 units year-on-year.
Tarun Garg, Managing Director and CEO of HMIL, stated that the company achieved its highest-ever quarterly domestic sales of 1,66,578 units in Q4 FY2025-26. He attributed the momentum to new product launches, including the upgraded Hyundai Verna and Exter. Garg also noted that the company remains cautious about geopolitical uncertainties affecting exports.
Quarterly and Monthly Trends
March's domestic sales record follows similar achievements earlier in 2026. In February 2026, HMIL posted its highest-ever February domestic sales at 52,407 units, a 9.8% increase year-on-year. Total volumes for February reached 66,134 units, up 12.6%. January 2026 also set a monthly record at that time.
These three consecutive months of domestic records indicate sustained demand. Management cited the upgraded Verna and Exter as key drivers. In the previous financial year, the Creta Electric and new Alcazar expanded HMIL's SUV portfolio, attracting new buyers.
SUVs and Export Trends
SUVs accounted for 68.5% of HMIL's domestic sales in FY2024-25. The Creta alone sold 52,898 units in the January–March 2025 quarter, making it India's top-selling SUV for that period. The export decline in March 2026 contrasts with February's export growth, when shipments rose 24.8% year-on-year to 13,727 units. Management expects export volatility to continue due to global uncertainties.
Annual Performance and Milestones
For the financial year ending March 2025, HMIL reported total sales of 7,62,052 units, with 5,98,666 domestic and 1,63,386 export units. The company maintained its position as India's second-largest passenger vehicle manufacturer and the largest passenger vehicle exporter. SUVs contributed 68.5% of domestic volumes for the year. During FY25, HMIL surpassed 2.5 million cumulative SUV sales and 1.5 million Creta sales since inception, including both domestic and export figures.
The strong domestic sales base in March 2026 positions HMIL to potentially exceed its FY25 domestic sales if current trends continue into FY2026-27.
