Kia Carnival Gets Discontinued

Korean automotive brand Kia has made the decision to discontinue the Carnival MPV in the Indian market. The esteemed automaker has officially removed this premium MPV from its roster of available models on the official website. Unfortunately, the Carnival did not receive the necessary BS6 Phase 2 update, unlike other models in Kia's Indian lineup.

Now, with its existing inventory depleted, Kia has chosen to cease production of the Carnival. However, reports suggest that this premium MPV is expected to make a comeback next year in a fresh incarnation, potentially as the production version of the recently showcased KA4 MPV.

Introduced in India as a luxurious MPV in 2020, the Carnival underwent a minor facelift during its three-year tenure. With three available trims and a capacity to accommodate up to nine passengers, the MPV was priced between ₹31 lakh and ₹35.50 lahks (ex-showroom) before its discontinuation.

Notably, the Carnival occupied a unique position in the market, lacking direct rivals, although the Toyota Innova Crysta was its closest contender. Kia attempted to strengthen its presence in the three-row vehicle segment by launching the more affordable Carens last year, as the Carnival failed to generate significant attention.

It is anticipated that Kia will replace the Carnival with the KA4 model, which was showcased during the Auto Expo 2023 earlier this year. This new MPV, resembling the current global market version, boasts larger dimensions, increased interior space, and up to 11 seating options. The design and available features of the MPV have also received updates.

The forthcoming Carnival 2023, or KA4, represents the fourth generation of this model. It offers an array of advanced features and technologies, including multi-Bluetooth connectivity, rear occupant alert, dual sunroof, and the Advanced Driver Aids System.

The driver assistance features comprise Remote Smart Parking Assist, Lane Following Assist, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), and Blind-Spot Avoidance Assist (BCA), among others. Additionally, Kia provides wireless charging, a multi-function steering wheel, and a spacious 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
