Key Highlights

  • Mahindra BE6 sets fastest 0–200–0 km/h record for electric vehicles in India
  • Certified by the India Book of Records with a total run time of 41.67 seconds
  • Braking from 200 km/h to zero achieved in 6.31 seconds
  • Test conducted at Mahindra’s SUV Proving Track using a standard production BE6

Record-Breaking Test Details

The 0–200–0 km/h test is unique because it measures both acceleration and braking. While reaching 200 km/h quickly is important, the real challenge lies in bringing the car to a complete stop safely. Aerodynamics, high-speed stability, and braking systems all play a crucial role in this test. Typically, such tests are reserved for supercars, but the Mahindra BE6, a family electric SUV, has now entered this elite category.

The test took place at Mahindra’s SUV Proving Track, which features long straights and a high-speed parabolic banking. This facility provided the necessary space and safety for the high-speed run. Mahindra’s engineers and technicians ensured that the BE6, a standard production model with no modifications, was in optimal condition. The only preparations involved checking tyre pressures and fully charging the battery.

The BE6 stands out with its bold design and advanced electric platform. It is designed to be accessible, yet offers performance levels comparable to more expensive vehicles. The record attempt required careful planning. The team installed timing equipment and GPS data loggers to capture precise results. Cameras were also placed inside and outside the car to document the run.

During the attempt, the BE6 accelerated hard on the straight, entered the banking at 150 km/h, and continued to increase speed. The car reached 200 km/h on the next straight, after which the driver applied full braking force. The BE6 remained stable throughout, with its ABS and stability systems working effectively. The car came to a controlled stop from 200 km/h in just 6.31 seconds.

After reviewing the data, the results confirmed the BE6’s record-setting performance. The achievement highlights the capabilities of modern electric SUVs, showing that they can deliver not only efficiency but also impressive speed and safety. The BE6 demonstrates that real performance involves both acceleration and control, setting a new standard for electric vehicles in India.
