Maruti is preparing a mid-life update for the Baleno hatchback, with a launch expected by late 2026. Recent sightings of a camouflaged test vehicle indicate significant design and feature enhancements.
Key Highlights
- Maruti Baleno facelift expected to launch by late 2026
- Design changes include sharper front end and redesigned grille
- Six airbags and nine inch infotainment system to be offered
- Possible new 1.0 litre turbo petrol and mild hybrid system
Exterior and Design Changes

The test vehicle suggests a sharper front end for the updated Baleno. Maruti plans to introduce a redesigned grille and an updated bumper. New headlights and tail lights are expected, although they will not feature a connected setup. The test unit did not display new alloy wheels, but changes are likely in the production version.
Interior and Feature Upgrades

The facelifted Baleno is expected to offer six airbags as standard across all variants. A nine-inch infotainment system with wireless connectivity will be available. Top-spec variants should include 360-degree cameras, cruise control, and rear AC vents. These updates aim to enhance safety and comfort for all occupants.
Engine and Powertrain Options

Under the hood, the new Baleno may introduce a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine. This would be offered alongside the existing 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol and CNG units. The CNG variant will retain the same power figures as the current model. The naturally aspirated engine produces 88 bhp and 113 Nm of torque. While the addition of a turbo engine is uncertain, Maruti is likely to focus on improved efficiency, possibly with a mild-hybrid system.
Expected Launch Timeline
Maruti is expected to showcase the updated Baleno in late 2026. The facelift will bring both visual and mechanical updates, aiming to keep the model competitive in the hatchback segment.
