India and the United Kingdom have signed a colossal gesture for the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) in the presence of Narendra Modi and the UK’s Keir Starmer. On the verge of diplomacy and passion, Modi’s recent visit to the UK was to ensure that both nations signed an FTA clause so that high traffic over the exported goods and beneficiaries would not be affected.
After the FTA deal was formalized, PM Modi, along with Keir Starmer, went to visit the Norton Motorcycles showcase. This visit came immediately following the formal signing of a landmark India-UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA) aimed at doubling bilateral trade and boosting economic ties between the two nations.
Norton Motorcycles, the legendary British brand, has been revived and owned by India's TVS Motor Company since 2020. Now with this, TVS is making plans to launch the two-wheelers from the portfolio in India by the end of 2025. TVS and Norton both have started testing a few models that were to be released in India. As per the latest spy shots on the internet, this industry visit took place in the presence of PM Modi, alongside Starmer, and TVS Motor Company Managing Director Sudarshan Venu.
TVS Motor India has invested heavily, over Rs 1,000 crore, into reviving or taking ownership of sales in India. The brand is also invested heavily in product development, research, and manufacturing. This investment aligns with PM Modi's vision of transforming India into a global manufacturing powerhouse under the 'Make in India' initiative.

During the industrial visit, we could clearly see motorcycles, including the impressive Norton V4CR café racer and the supersport V4SV. Both these bikes are powered by a potent 1200 cc V4 engine. Both these engines are capable of producing 185 HP and 125 Nm of torque. These models represent Norton’s blend of classic British motorcycle heritage and modern engineering.
The upcoming launch of Norton motorcycles in India later this year marks a significant milestone. With the collaboration of TVS Motor Company, the brand is making ways to reduce the FTA to import Norton’s premium motorcycles as CBU units to India with a reduction in tariffs.
PM Modi's visit following the India-UK FTA signing signifies that the two nations can directly empower industries and stimulate imports and exports. The launch of the upcoming new brand, Norton Motorcycles, will elevate India’s premium ride but also fulfill the FTA between the two nations. With FTA, both nations can exchange their ideas, R&D, and innovations for the upward trajectory of the industries. Let us see how this treaty progresses and how taxes on automobiles are reduced.
