The launch expands Simple's portfolio to four variants, starting at an introductory Rs 1.39 lakh ex-showroom Bengaluru for the Simple OneS Gen 2, appealing to diverse budgets while prioritizing performance and safety upgrades. With pan-India expansion and IPO plans by FY27, Simple Energy aims to capture a larger market share from rivals like Ola and Ather. This move underscores the brand's evolution from a startup to a serious contender in the competitive electric two-wheeler segment.

New Range New Performance

The Simple Ultra packs a high-output motor delivering peak power and torque suited for highways, with six riding modes, including Eco X, Ride, Sonic, and Sonic X, for versatile performance tuning. It features disc brakes on both ends, traction control, four-level regenerative braking, and cruise control, enhancing safety and efficiency. Kerb weight drops to 129 kg for better handling, complemented by a 780 mm seat height and 35-liter underseat storage for daily use.

Gen 2 Simple One variants offer the following features:

  • The 5 kWh model offers a 265 km IDC range, producing 11.8 HP of power and 72 Nm of torque. This battery configuration can accelerate the scooter from 0 to 40 kmph in just 2.5 seconds. While the top speed is said to be about 115 kmph.
  • The second battery configuration offers 4.5 kWh that produces 8.5 HP of power and 90 kmph of torque. With this larger battery, the e-scooter is said to travel a claimed range of 236 km with 90 kmph as its top speed. The entry-level OneS Gen 2 has a range of 190 kilometers from a 3.7 kWh battery pack, an increase of 9 kilometers over previous models.

Market Impact

Simple Ultra's 400 km claim outstrips competitors like the Ather 450X (161 km real-world) or the Ola S1 Pro (195 km IDC), targeting range-anxious buyers in India's EV market, which is projected to hit 50% two-wheeler penetration by 2025. Upgrades like a 22% stiffer chassis and 50% stronger battery crash zones boost crash safety.

Conclusion

As Simple Ultra charges into India's EV horizon with unmatched 400 km endurance, it doesn't just redefine scooter limits as it ignites a revolution for range-weary riders. Simple Energy's bold Gen 2 leap promises safer, smarter mobility, challenging giants, and accelerating the shift to sustainable streets.
