Tata Motors is preparing a significant update for the Tigor compact sedan, following the recent refresh of the Tiago hatchback. A new design patent filed by the company has led to a render that previews the likely appearance of the updated Tigor. The Tigor has long shared its design language and mechanical platform with the Tiago, and the upcoming facelift is expected to continue this approach.
Key Highlights
- Tata Tigor facelift to feature major exterior and interior updates.
- Design changes expected to mirror the recently refreshed Tiago hatchback.
- Feature upgrades likely include a larger touchscreen and digital instrument cluster.
- Petrol, CNG, and updated EV variants expected to continue.
- Launch likely during festive season later this year.
Exterior and Design Changes

The render, based on patent drawings, indicates substantial changes to the Tigor’s front-end styling. The updated model is likely to receive redesigned LED headlamps, new daytime running lights, a revised grille pattern, and a reworked front bumper. Many of these elements are expected to align with those seen on the recently updated Tiago.
The front fascia of the upcoming Tata Tigor may also include a camera, supporting a 360-degree surround-view system. This feature has been introduced on Tata’s latest passenger vehicles, enhancing safety and convenience. The design changes aim to keep the Tigor visually competitive in its segment.
Interior and Feature Upgrades
While the patent images do not reveal much about the interior, the facelifted Tigor is expected to feature a refreshed cabin. Tata Motors has recently used a fabric-textured dashboard in newer models, and a similar theme could appear in the Tigor. Feature upgrades are likely to include a larger free-standing touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, a redesigned steering wheel, touch-sensitive climate controls, wireless charging pads, and faster USB Type-C charging ports.
Powertrain and Variant Updates
Tata Motors is expected to retain the current 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine, available with both manual and AMT transmission options. The CNG variant is also likely to continue, and it could gain an AMT gearbox and steering-mounted paddle shifters for improved convenience.
The Tata Tigor EV is expected to receive updates as well. It may share the 19.2 kWh and 24 kWh battery pack options currently offered in the Tiago EV. This could provide a claimed range of up to 285 km, depending on the variant. There is also speculation that Tata Motors might extend its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) program to the updated Tigor EV.
Launch Timeline and Official Details
Tata Motors has not confirmed specific details about the powertrain lineup, features, or launch schedule for the facelifted Tigor. However, the updated model is expected to debut during the festive season later this year. The company has not yet announced an official launch date.
