Third-Gen Mercedes GLS New Facelift Spotted Testing

Recent spy photos have unveiled Mercedes-Benz's plans for another GLS facelift, marking the latest update to its flagship SUV since the third-generation model's debut in 2019 and its first refresh in 2023. The upcoming GLS facelift, expected to be revealed early next year, showcases changes primarily to the front and rear sections, suggesting a subtle evolution of the luxury seven-seater.

Key updates observed in the GLS facelift spy shots include:

• Slimmer headlights and a reshaped grille
• Modified front and rear bumpers
• New LED taillight signatures

While the interior wasn't visible in the GLS facelift photographs, industry experts anticipate upgrades to align with newer Mercedes models. This could mean a larger infotainment touchscreen with updated software for the GLS facelift, along with minor tweaks to the design and upholstery. The current model's extensive safety and comfort features will likely be retained in the new GLS facelift.

The new GLS facelift is expected to maintain its current powertrain options. In India, these include the GLS 450 with a 381 hp 3.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and the GLS 450d featuring a 367 hp 3.0-litre diesel engine. Both variants incorporate mild-hybrid technology, adding up to 20 hp of boost. The 9-speed automatic transmission and Mercedes' 4Matic all-wheel-drive system are anticipated to remain standard in the GLS facelift.

While the updated GLS facelift is likely to reach Indian shores eventually, its arrival isn't expected very soon. Mercedes-Benz India introduced the current GLS facelift earlier this year and has a busy launch schedule ahead, including several other models planned before the end of 2024.
