VinFast, the Vietnamese electric car manufacturer, has secured a patent for its much-anticipated supermini electric SUV, the VF3, in India. The company, which unveiled the VF3 at the 2024 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, is set to launch the electric vehicle in the Indian market by the end of 2025.
Striking Design and Features
The VinFast VF3 boasts a distinctive tall and boxy design, coupled with robust features and ample ground clearance. The front fascia is characterized by an almost rectangular closed grille, flanked by striking LED headlamps and squared Outside Rear View Mirrors (ORVMs). A thick black bumper extends to the wheel arches, creating a rugged yet stylish look. The rear of the VF3 features LED taillamps and a chrome-finished brand logo connecting both ends.

Trim Options and Power Configuration
Available in two trims – Eco and Plus – the VF3 comes with a single-motor configuration. While the automaker has not disclosed specific details about the battery size, VinFast claims a remarkable range of up to 201km (150 miles) on a single, fully charged battery. The compact dimensions of the VF3 measure 3,190mm in length, 1,679mm in width, and 1,620mm in height, offering a generous boot space of 550 litres.
Tech-Loaded Interior
Inside, the mini electric SUV boasts an advanced 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with features like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Additional technological amenities include connected car technology and fully folding second-row seats. Anticipated interior features encompass a digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, a two-spoke steering wheel, cruise control, and dual airbags.

Manufacturing Hub in Tamil Nadu
In a parallel development, VinFast has commenced construction on its manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu, India. Spanning 400 acres, this state-of-the-art factory is assured to have an annual production capacity of up to 1,50,000 vehicles. The ambitious project is expected to generate employment opportunities for over 3,500 local residents. The total investment for this manufacturing unit is estimated at Rs. 4,165 crores.
