Aprilia, an Italian motorcycle maker, was established in Noale, Italy, by Alberto Beggio shortly after World War II. Initially, the company focused on manufacturing bicycles but later expanded its production to include scooters and small motorcycles. In recent years[when?], Aprilia has also ventured into creating high-performance sportbikes like the RSV Mille with a 1,000 cc V-twin engine, as well as the RSV4 featuring a V4 engine.

Aprilia has demonstrated a strong commitment to motorsport competition, starting with motocross racing and later achieving success in road racing, including winning world championships. In 2004, the company was acquired by Piaggio.
