JK Tyres Chennai Plant Achieves ISCC Plus Certification for Sustainability

The Chennai plant of JK Tyre & Industries has earned the International Sustainability & Carbon Certification Plus (ISCC Plus), making the company, the first tyre manufacturer in India to receive this certification. This achievement is a testament to JK Tyre’s focus on sustainability and green manufacturing processes.

To obtain the ISCC Plus certification, JK Tyre complied with standards on supply chain disclosure, environmental laws and policies, and support for a sustainable economy. The third and final audit for certification was conducted by the Indian counterpart of the certification body in Kolkata.

Chairman and Managing Director of JK Tyre, Dr. Raghupati Singhania, expressed his satisfaction with this achievement and added that the company has been working diligently to meet sustainable development goals. JK Tyre is committed to reaching net zero emissions by 2050 and reducing carbon emissions by 50% by 2030.

The Chennai plant was previously in the news for achieving the ‘Zero Liquid Discharge’ status in 2021 and its energy conservation efforts, earning the ‘National Energy Leader’ award at the 21st National Awards for Excellence in Energy Management and the CII ‘Excellent Energy Efficient Unit’ award for six consecutive years. The ISCC Plus certification is an added feather in JK Tyre’s cap, reflecting its commitment to sustainable and environment-friendly operations.
