Bentley has finally unveiled the new Continental GT and its convertible counterpart, the GTC. While it builds on the previous model's MSB platform, Bentley refers to it as a new fourth-gen model, highlighting significant changes, especially under the hood.
Price and Launch
- Launch Date: Expected to launch in India towards the end of this year.
- Estimated Price: Around Rs 6 crore.
- Competition: Will compete with the Ferrari 12Cilindri and the Aston Martin Vanquish.
Exteriors

The new GT retains the iconic Continental shape but introduces a major departure with singular oval headlights featuring an eyelash-style DRL, reminiscent of the Bentley Batur. Headlights have an intricate diamond pattern. The grille features a diamond mesh interrupted by a large radar dome and camera setup for new ADAS capabilities. The bonnet continues with the centre crease, appearing sharper.
The profile shows off a long bonnet and wide, flared rear fenders with 22-inch rims as standard. But the active rear spoiler has been removed, replaced by a flared boot lid forming an integrated spoiler. Elliptical-shaped lights are slightly larger, and the windscreen-integrated high-mount stop light remains.
Interiors

Interior design is similar to the older model, with signature elements like organ stop AC vent controllers and a triple-rotating centre panel. It also Includes an ADAS package with an ‘environmental awareness’ display, in-built apps like Spotify, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Connectivity features include pre-cooling or heating the cabin and seats. The 2+2 seater features diamond-quilted seats and customizable trim materials in vibrant shades like orange and green.
Engine and Gearbox
It comes with a hybrid powertrain and the major change is the introduction of a plug-in hybrid V8, replacing the W12 engine. The 4.0-liter V8 produces 600hp and 800Nm. The gearbox-integrated electric motor adds 190hp and 450Nm, resulting in a combined power of 782hp and 1,000Nm torque, channelled through an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
Performance
- 0 to 100 kph in 3.2 seconds, 0 to 160 kph in 6.9 seconds, with a top speed of 335 kph.
- Can reach speeds up to 160 kph in pure EV mode with an all-electric range of 80km.
- No cylinder deactivation is needed as the electric motor compensates, leading to improved mileage and emissions.
- Equipped with 420mm front and 380mm rear discs, the largest cast iron brakes on any production car, and twin-valve dampers with air springs all around.
The new Bentley Continental GT and GTC combine classic design with modern technology, offering a luxurious and powerful driving experience.
