The Tata Sierra EV launched earlier this week, offering a wide range of features, safety equipment, and multiple powertrain options. The Sierra EV is a strong contender in its segment, with an all-wheel-drive (AWD) option that enhances off-road capability.

The Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella, available for some time, features a premium cabin and sharp styling. The Ebella comes in a single, fully loaded variant. This article compares the Tata Sierra EV and Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella across price, features, dimensions, and specifications.

Price and Variant Comparison

The Tata Sierra EV starts at Rs 18.79 lakh, undercutting the Urban Cruiser Ebella by Rs 4.81 lakh. The Ebella is priced at Rs 23.60 lakh for its sole top-spec variant. The top-end Sierra EV model costs Rs 26 lakh, which is Rs 2.4 lakh higher than the Ebella. The Ebella offers a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option, reducing its starting price to Rs 15.25 lakh with a usage charge of Rs 4.99 per km.

Dimensions and Exterior Options

​The Tata Sierra EV is taller, wider, and longer than the Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella. The Ebella's smaller footprint may benefit city driving and parking. The Sierra EV’s larger size provides greater road presence

The Tata Sierra EV is available in seven colour options, including unique shades like Rishikesh Rapids, Bengal Rouge, and Nainital Nocturne. The Ebella offers six colour options, with Land Breeze Green available only in dual-tone. Some Sierra EV colours are exclusive to certain variants, such as Nainital Nocturne for AWD.

Features and Safety Equipment

Both SUVs offer extensive features and safety equipment. The Sierra EV includes wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 12-speaker JBL system with Dolby Atmos, and powered front seats with 6-way adjustment for the driver and 4-way for the co-driver.

The Tata Sierra EV’s panoramic sunroof extends beyond the rear seats, while the Ebella has a fixed glass roof. Both models feature all-LED lighting, ventilated front seats, and wireless phone charging. The Sierra EV’s JBL system has 12 speakers, compared to the Ebella’s 10-speaker setup.

Safety features in both vehicles include a Level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), an Acoustic Vehicle Alert System (AVAS), a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and parking sensors at both ends.

The Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella has a 360-degree camera, while the Sierra EV offers a 540-degree camera system with an additional underbody camera for off-road use. The Ebella includes seven airbags, one more than the Sierra EV’s six airbags.

Powertrain and Range

The Tata Sierra EV is available with two battery packs: 63 kWh and 75 kWh. The Ebella offers a single 61 kWh battery pack. The Sierra EV provides both rear-wheel-drive (RWD) and AWD options, while the Ebella is front-wheel-drive (FWD) only. The Sierra EV’s 75 kWh battery delivers up to 665 km of range, surpassing the Ebella’s range. The Ebella’s 49 kWh battery pack is not yet available for sale.
