Tata Motors has recently launched the 2026 Tata Sierra EV that instantly grabs attention. The Sierra brings the nostalgic nameplate now in electric form. With five variants, two battery options, and even an AWD version, the Sierra EV is clearly designed to appeal to more than one kind of buyer. The Tata Sierra EV is positioned between the Curvv EV and the Harrier EV.

The Sierra EV is priced towards the higher end of the midsize electric SUV. While looking at the specs and features, the car is in close competition with the Mahindra BE 6, which costs between Rs 18.9 lakh and Rs 26.9 lakh. In this article we will clarify the different variants of the Tata Sierra EV and explain which one makes a better option to buy at an affordable price.

Tata Sierra EV Variant Breakdown

Tata Motors has positioned the Sierra EV between mainstream family EVs and more premium electric SUVs, with prices starting at Rs 18.79 lakh ex-showroom. The lineup includes Pure, Pure S, Adventure, Empowered, and Empowered A, and each version is clearly aimed at a different type of customer.

At the base of the range sits the 63 kWh battery pack, which focuses on strong real-world usability and a lower entry price. Above that, the 75 kWh battery opens the door to longer range and, in the case of Empowered A, AWD capability.

Here is the full powertrain logic in simple terms:

  • 63 kWh RWD: Pure and Pure S, Adventure and Empowered
  • 75 kWh RWD: Adventure and Empowered.
  • 75 kWh AWD: Empowered A and Empowered A AWD

The claimed MIDC range figures are 565 km for the 63 kWh RWD, 665 km for the 75 kWh RWD, and 624 km for the 75 kWh AWD. Tata also says all variants support fast charging, which helps make the SUV more practical for highway use.

1. Pure And Pure S

The Pure variant is the entry point to the Tata Sierra EV range, and it already gets the 63 kWh battery with RWD. That makes it an appealing starting point for buyers who want the design, the badge value, and a credible EV package without stretching too far up the price ladder.

Pure S sits above it and is priced at Rs 19.99 lakh, which is Rs 1.2 lakh more than the base trim. It keeps the same 63 kWh RWD setup, so the extra spend is really about the additional equipment rather than any mechanical change.

For a lot of buyers, Pure S may be the sweet spot because it keeps the ownership cost manageable while avoiding the absolute entry-level feel that some base variants can have. In practical terms, this is the variant Tata likely expects to draw serious consideration from urban EV buyers.

2. Adventure And Empowered

Adventure is where the Sierra EV becomes more flexible, because it can be had with either the 63 kWh or 75 kWh battery. That gives buyers a real choice: stay with the more affordable configuration or pay extra for the longer-range 75 kWh version.

Empowered follows the same logic, again offering both 63 kWh and 75 kWh RWD options. This trim is important because it likely balances premium features with a powertrain choice that feels more complete for long-distance users.

This part of the lineup is also where Tata is clearly trying to catch buyers who want a more premium-feeling EV without jumping straight to AWD. It is the middle of the range, but it may well be the most commercially important.

3. Empowered A and Empowered A-AWD

Empowered A is the headline act, because it is the only variant available with the dual-motor AWD system. It also pairs exclusively with the 75 kWh battery pack, which makes it the most performance-focused and technically interesting version in the Sierra EV family.

That Empowered A-AWD setup gives the Sierra EV a genuine differentiator in a segment where most rivals stick to front- or rear-wheel-drive layouts. Tata’s claimed power output for the AWD system is 203 PS from the rear motor and 140 PS from the front motor, with 504 Nm of torque.

For buyers who want the Sierra EV to feel special, not just efficient, this is the variant to watch. It is the one that best reinforces the SUV’s adventurous image while also offering the strongest hardware story.

Specs and Features

The Sierra EV’s cabin is one of its strongest selling points, and Tata has clearly loaded the SUV with premium hardware. A triple-screen dashboard setup includes a 12.3-inch digital driver display, a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, and a 12.3-inch passenger entertainment screen.

Other highlights include a panoramic sunroof, a 12-speaker JBL sound system with a sound bar, powered seats, ventilated seats, connected car technology, and a powered tailgate. Safety equipment includes six airbags, a 540-degree camera, electronic stability control, parking sensors, and ADAS on higher variants.

Pricing of the Variants

Tata has priced the Sierra EV from Rs 18.79 lakh ex-showroom, and that instantly places it in a very competitive bracket. It goes up against models such as the Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta Electric, MG ZS EV, and BYD Atto 3. The following table shows the different prices (ex-showroom) of the variants in India.

Which Variant Fits As Your Driving Companion?

If value matters most, Pure S looks like the most balanced entry point because it adds a bit more polish over Pure without changing the core EV package. If you want the widest mix of range and equipment, Adventure and Empowered deserve the closest attention because they unlock the 75 kWh battery while keeping the SUV more attainable than AWD.

If your priority is long-range confidence and a more premium ownership story, the 75 kWh RWD versions make the most sense. If you want the most distinctive Sierra EV, the Empowered A AWD is the one that stands apart with its dual-motor layout and segment-unique all-wheel-drive setup.

CarBike 360 Says

Choose the Tata Sierra EV variant that matches your priorities: the smaller battery RWD trims suit cost-conscious urban drivers, the larger 75 kWh pack delivers the best long-range value for frequent highway travel, and the QWD dual-motor top trims are for buyers wanting strong performance and all-weather traction. Pick based on range needs, features you use, and long-term charging costs to get the best ownership balance.
