Emerson expands NI Nigel AI capabilities across test software portfolio
Emerson integrates advanced NI Nigel AI features into its test software suite to streamline workflows, enhance data analysis, and accelerate product development cycles.

Emerson has announced the expansion of its NI Nigel AI technology across its test software portfolio. The company revealed these updates at its annual NI Connect conference. The new AI features will support prompt-based code generation and cross-platform intelligence for engineering test and validation workflows.
Key Highlights
- Emerson expands NI Nigel AI across its test software portfolio
- Prompt-based code generation added to NI LabVIEW Plus Suite
- AI features to be available later in 2026 for multiple engineering tools
Expanded AI Features for Test Engineering
The updated Nigel AI platform is designed specifically for test engineering environments. It will offer context-aware assistance throughout development, validation, and deployment workflows. Emerson plans to add prompt-based code generation to the NI LabVIEW+ Suite. The AI functionality will also extend to other software products, including NI FlexLogger, NI InstrumentStudio, NI TestStand, and NI SystemLink.
The company expects these new capabilities to become available later in 2026. Emerson aims to improve the efficiency of test development while maintaining transparency and engineering control. The expanded AI features are intended to help engineers work faster and more effectively across multiple tools.
Unified Platform and Industry Applications
Ritu Favre, president of Emerson’s test and measurement business, said the company is focused on integrating hardware, software, and data tools into a unified platform. This platform is designed to adapt to evolving AI-driven engineering requirements. Emerson stated that the NI platform combines modular hardware, open software architecture, and a shared data foundation. This combination supports large-scale and complex test environments.
According to Emerson, its internal teams have used Nigel AI to reduce some test development and troubleshooting tasks from days or hours to minutes. The company also highlighted hardware features such as configurable signal support, precise timing, and high-performance data movement. These features support advanced testing applications.
The shared data foundation is intended to simplify measurement data management and reuse across teams and facilities. During keynote presentations at NI Connect, companies such as NVIDIA, Alstom, Valeo, Zap Energy, and Cyth Systems discussed their use of Emerson’s test and measurement technologies in product development and validation programs.
Additional Industry Updates
