Key Performance and Battery Details
The Volkswagen ID. Polo GTI uses a 52 kWh battery pack, offering a WLTP-claimed range of 424 km. Its front-axle-mounted electric motor delivers 226 HP and 229 Nm of torque. Volkswagen states the car can accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in 6.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 175 kph.
The ID Polo GTI supports 105 kW DC fast charging. This system enables the battery to charge from 10 to 80 percent in 24 minutes. The standard Polo EV is also available with the same 52 kWh battery or a lower-capacity 37 kWh version. However, the standard Polo EV with the 52 kWh battery produces 15 HP less than the GTI but claims a 30 km higher range per charge.
Design and Chassis Enhancements
The ID. Polo GTI stands out with new design elements and performance features. It features Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) suspension as standard, which refers to adaptive dampers. The car also includes an electronically lockable front differential, a feature borrowed from the internal combustion engine-powered Golf GTI.
The model introduces a new GTI driving profile. This function allows drivers to adjust the chassis and drive systems for a sportier setup with the press of a button.
While the ID. Polo GTI is based on the standard Polo EV and shares its overall silhouette, it receives several unique styling updates. These include Matrix LED headlights, redesigned 19-inch alloy wheels, a new roof-mounted spoiler with a center split, and more aggressive front and rear bumpers. The car displays GTI badges and a red strip above the front bumper, distinguishing it from other Polo models.
Other features remain similar to the standard Polo EV. These include a connected LED lightbar at the front, connected LED taillights, and illuminated VW logos on both ends. The car also retains black outside rearview mirror covers and C-pillar-mounted door handles on the rear doors.
