The group was founded by the Munjal brothers in 1956 with the establishment of Hero Cycles Limited. The group later entered into a joint venture with Honda Motor Company in 1984 to form Hero Honda Motors Limited, which became the world's largest two-wheeler manufacturer. 

The joint venture was terminated in 2010 and the group rebranded itself as Hero MotoCorp Limited. The Hero brand name was derived from the first two letters of the partners' names, Henckell and Roth, who founded the Conservenfabrik Lenzburg in Switzerland in 1886 to process fruit and vegetables. The Hero Group acquired the Swiss company in 1995 and expanded its portfolio to include baby food, jam and nutritional snacks.

TVS stands for T. V. Sundaram Iyengar, who founded the company in 1911 as a transportation business with a large fleet of trucks and buses under the name of Southern Roadways. In 1962, he established Sundaram Clayton, a company that manufactured brakes, exhausts, compressors and various other automotive parts. 

In 1976, the company set up a plant at Hosur in Tamil Nadu to manufacture mopeds as part of their new division. In 1980, TVS 50, India’s first two-seater moped rolled out of the factory at Hosur. In 1987, the company entered into a technical collaboration with Suzuki Motor Corporation to produce motorcycles for the Indian market. The joint venture was called TVS-Suzuki and it launched several models such as the Suzuki Supra, Suzuki Samurai, Suzuki Shogun and Suzuki Shaolin. 

In 2001, the company parted ways with Suzuki and renamed itself TVS Motor Company. Since then, the company has become one of the leading two-wheeler manufacturers in India and has expanded its presence to over 60 countries. The company also acquired Norton Motorcycle Company, a British motorcycle brand, in 2020. Yamaha Corporation is a Japanese manufacturer of musical instruments. It was founded by Torakusu Yamaha in 1887 as a reed organ manufacturer and was originally known as Nippon Gakki Co. It was incorporated on October 12, 1897. Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. is a separate company that produces motorcycles and other vehicles. It was founded on July 1, 1955, by Genichi Kawakami, a former president of Yamaha Corporation.
The Yamaha brand trademark, YAMAHA, comes from the name of the founder, who pioneered the production of Western musical instruments in Japan. He was fascinated by Western science and technology and started his career as a watchmaker. 
He later repaired medical equipment and was asked to fix a broken reed organ at a school. He succeeded in repairing it and decided to make his own organ. He delivered his prototype organ to the Music Institute in Tokyo, but it was criticized for its poor tuning. He then studied music theory and tuning and improved his organ.
The tuning fork mark that represents the Yamaha brand was inspired by his experience of studying tuning with a tuning fork in his hand. The mark symbolizes the three essential elements of music: melody, harmony and rhythm.
Yamaha expanded its product range to include pianos, wind instruments, string instruments, percussion instruments, electronic instruments and audio equipment. It also diversified into other fields such as sports equipment, lifestyle products, semiconductors and recreation business.
Yamaha has a strong presence in both domestic and international markets. It has established subsidiaries and affiliates in many countries and regions. Evolution of Suzuki

By 1954, Suzuki was producing 6,000 motorcycles per month and had officially changed its name to Suzuki Motor Co., Ltd. Building on the success of its motorcycles, Suzuki went on to create an even more successful automobile, the 1955 Suzuki Suzulight. The Suzulight featured innovative elements such as front-wheel drive, four-wheel independent suspension, and rack-and-pinion steering, which were considered groundbreaking at the time.

From 2009 to 2015, Volkswagen held a 19.9% non-controlling shareholding in Suzuki. However, this partnership did not continue due to disagreements between the companies. Suzuki accused Volkswagen of not sharing promised technology, while Volkswagen objected to Suzuki's decision to purchase diesel engines from Fiat. As a result, an international arbitration court ordered Volkswagen to sell back its stake in Suzuki. In September 2015, Suzuki completed the stock buy-back by paying $3.8 billion.

The new 2020 Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin motorcycle was launched in India with a starting price of Rs. 15.35 lakh and goes upto Rs. 17.50 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The new CRF1100L model now packs a bigger, parallel-twin engine along with new technology and upgraded features. The motorcycle has also received an overhaul wherein it gets a revised fairing, lighter frame, and a 25-litre fuel tank. Notably, the main difference between the regular Honda Africa Twin and the Adventure Sports version is that the latter gets protective bodywork, height-adjustable windscreen, and a standard engine bash plate.
The 2020 Honda Africa Twin range now offers 12 per cent more power and 11 per cent more torque. The company has also worked on the power to weight ratio, which has been increased by 10 per cent. The basic architecture of the engine has been retained, but the parallel-twin mill now gets a longer stroke. The powertrain now belts out 101 bhp of maximum power at 7,500 rpm against the peak torque of 105 Nm at 6,250 rpm. With lighter aluminium cylinder sleeves and redesigned engine casings, the manual version of the 2020 Africa Twin is lighter by 2.5 kg whereas the automatic DCT engine is 2.2 kg lighter.
The 2020 Honda Africa Twin gets completely updated electronics including Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), Honda's version of the traction control system, which is now powered by an inertial measurement unit (IMU). It also features four power levels and three levels of electronic engine braking. The Wheelie Control system can be turned off completely. Apart from this, the motorcycle gets a new touchscreen instrument cluster with Bluetooth audio as well as Apple Carplay compatibility.
The company offers the new Africa Twin with four default riding mode options - Tour, Urban, Gravel and Off-Road, along with two additional modes that can be customised by the user. The standard model of the new Africa Twin weighs 226 kg whereas the DCT version has a kerb weight of 236 kg. 
The wheels on the motorcycle remain unchanged with 21-inch up front and 18-inch rear combination wire-spoked wheels shod with tubed tyres. For deceleration, the bike uses 310 mm dual wave floating hydraulic discs at the front and a 256 mm single hydraulic disc gripped by a single piston caliper at the rear. The dual-channel ABS system offers on-road and off-road settings, which can be switched off completely. The new Africa Twin motorcycle is claimed to offer a mileage of 20.4 kmpl and 20.8 kmpl for the manual and automatic versions, respectively.
The new motorcycle also gets a new frame with a bolt-on subframe. Seat height has increased from the previous 820mm-840mm setup to 850mm-870mm, but the seat is narrower by 140mm now. The Adventure Sports model gets Showa 45mm USD fully adjustable fork and Showa preload-and rebound-adjustable monoshock. Its 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoked wheels can accommodate tubeless tyres.
The 2020 Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin Adventure Sports faces competition from the new Triumph Tiger 900, Ducati Multistrada 950, and the BMW F 850 GS.
