The company sells a wide range of motorcycles and scooters in various segments including 100cc bikes like the Splendor range, all the way to 223cc bikes like Karizmas. The Hero scooters range include Hero Maestro Edge, Hero Duet and Hero Pleasure. In the coming years, electric scooters will be a major part of the brand's new launches. TVS was founded by T. V. Sundaram Iyengar. He was born in 1877 in Thirukkurungudi in the Tirunelveli district of Madras Presidency, British India. He started the first bus service in Madurai in the year 1911 and founded T.V.Sundaram Iyengar and Sons Limited, a company in the transportation business with a large fleet of buses and trucks working under the name of Southern Roadways Limited. When he passed away in 1955, his sons took the brand ahead by starting different businesses in the automobile sector, including insurance, finance, and manufacturing of two-wheelers, tyres, as well as, components. The south Indian company established a plant at Hosur in the year 1978, to produce mopeds as part of their new division. India's first two-seater moped, TVS 50, rolled out of the factory at Hosur in Tamil Nadu, in the year 1980.

During the 1950s, 60s and 70s, the company produced motorcycles with two-stroke engines. Suzuki also became the first Japanese bike manufacturing company to win a motocross world championship when Joel Robert won the 1970 250cc title. Suzuki launched its first motorcycles with a four-stroke engine, the GS400 and GS750, in the year 1976. After that, Suzuki built a reputation as a producer of well-engineered sport motorcycles.

Suzuki produced four-wheeled ATVs in the year 1983 and then moved on to producing high-performance ATV in the year 1985. The brand launched two of its international models in India, which reflects Suzuki's intent to grow in the Indian market. KTM started the production of R100 in the year 1954. The brand only had 20 employees, and the motorcycles were produced at the rate of three per day. The company secured its first title with the 1954 Austrian 125 national championship. KTM first made a debut at the International Six Days Trials (Enduro) in 1956, in which Egon Dornauer secured a gold medal. Racing was the testing ground for production technology, but the next line-up was of its first scooter, the Mirabell. It started providing a factory in 1964. With the expansion of the company, the workforce also increased to 400 in the year 1971, and 40 years after it was founded, KTM was manufacturing 42 different types of models.

In 2012, the KTM Duke 200 was launched in the Indian market. In the same year, Bajaj Auto increased its stake in KTM from 14.5 per cent to 47 per cent. In the year 2008, KTM and Bajaj announced that they were planning to manufacture two new 125cc, 200cc and 390cc mass-focussed motorcycles. KTM also owns Husqvarna, and their Vitpilen 401 and Svartpilen models will probably be produced in India at the Bajaj-KTM plant in Chakan, Pune. The news came after the senior vice-president of Bajaj, Amit Nandi, hinted that an all-new range of 'made-in-India' Husqvarnas would be produced at some point in 2017. Bajaj plays an important role in this positive change for KTM. The Duke/RC series from KTM is made at Bajaj's facility in Chakan and then exported to the other countries. Some of the countries to which KTM-Bajaj exports the KTM Duke/RC are Australia, Europe, Nepal, Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, Colombia, Malaysia, Mexico and Argentina.

In 1911, the six Benelli brothers Giuseppe, Francesco, Giovanni, Filippo, Antonio, and Domenico, repaired and manufactured motorcycle parts. DSK Motowheels has got into a partnership with Benelli and the bikes are assembled at their CKD plant in Maharashtra. The three-cylinder premium bikes are produced in Italy and are brought to the country via CBU imports, unlike the Chinese built motorcycles. Benelli recently delivered 500 superbikes in Bengaluru within a span of one year. This is the shortest time in which a superbike brand has achieved such a milestone in a particular city in India.

Aprilia was established by Cavaliere Alberto Beggio after the Second World War, as a bicycle manufacturing factory at Noale, Italy in the province of Venice. In August 2010, Aprilia became the most successful motorcycle racing brand in history, leaving behind the fellow Italian MV Agusta with a record 276th victory. The Aprilia SR 150 which made its first appearance in India at the Auto Expo 2016 has recently started its production in the country. The ‘motard’ by Aprilia shares its 150cc engine from the Vespa. The manufacturing of the sporty scooter is being done at Piaggio’s facility at Baramati, Maharashtra. The Aprilia two-wheelers are officially sold in India through Motoplex, which is the Piaggio Group premium brand showroom.
