One of the finest electric SUV Hyundai Kona starts at Rs. 23.77 Lakh and goes upto Rs. 23.96 Lakh. This electric SUV will have 2 trims - the base model of Kona Electric is Premium and the top variant Hyundai Kona Premium Dual Tone which comes at a price tag of Rs. 23.96 Lakh. Coming directly from the horse’s mouth i.e., the company itself, the Kona Electric will be ‘India’s First Real Electric SUV’. The electric version is planned to be introduced in India on 9 July 2021. It is understood from the company that Hyundai will introduce the Kona EV in India via the CKD route and it will be locally assembled at the company’s facility in Chennai. In comparison to regular model, the electric version gets subtle enhancement in form of a new grille with charging port facility, redesigned front bumper with aerodynamic intake vents to give it a stylish look, and a revised rear bumper to conceal the exhaust vents. An integrated all-new platform includes battery pack along with 373-litre boot space. Globally, Kona EV comes with two powertrain options that offer different power outputs and driving range. The Short-Range variant is strengthened by a 39.2kWh battery pack that provides a range of 300km. It is expected to build the maximum power of 133bhp and can make the 0-100kmph sprint in short span of time of 9.3 seconds. The Long-Range version is strengthened by a 64kWh battery pack that gives a driving range of 470km. It produces 201bhp of power and does 0-100kmph sprint in 7.6 seconds. It takes 6 hours to fully charge the 39.2kWh version while the 64kWh battery pack takes around 9 hours to charge completely. Additionally, the Kona electric offers a 100kW DC fast charger, which can quickly charge the SUV upto 80 per cent in just short span of 54 minutes. The the Kona Electric has only two competitors in India: the Nexon EV and the MG ZS EV.
