Targeting young customers looking for a stylish yet efficient motorcycle for their daily commute, the Xtreme Sports is a premium 150cc commuter motorcycle. This bike gets a slide of ornamental and mechanical modifications in order to compete with the Suzuki Gixxer, Honda CB Unicorn 160 and the Yamaha FZ Version 2.0.
With the intention to visually differentiate it from the standard Xtreme, Hero MotoCorp has redesigned the bike with one cowl near the fuel tank and another below the engine. The design changes also include revised headlamp unit and an instrument cluster as a part of the package along with a wider rear tubeless tyre, a new handlebar, split seats and revised front and rear fenders which make the new version super attractive and premium looking. The Xtreme Sports also gets a host of new colour options and decals to choose from.
The machine retains the same 149.2cc engine as used in the standard motorcycle, the power has been enhanced up from 14.2 BHP to 15.2 BHP while the torque has been increased from 12.8 Nm to 13.5 Nm making the overall vehicle much more powerful. The engine is coupled with the same five-speed constant mesh gearbox. There are other mechanical upgrades like a new five-step adjustable rear suspension and the option of a rear disc brake, for improved stopping power.
The instrument cluster is nice with a big round tachometer and LCD display area. However, one let-down could be the blue backlight which only hinders the vision rather than enhancing it. The analogue fuel indicator does not indicate real-time fuel level, rather it updates the fuel level at every 1/4th occurrence which is a low point.
The Xtreme Sports is offered in five paint schemes like panther black, mercuric silver, fiery red, pyro orange and black/red. The prices of the Hero Xtreme Sports start from Rs 76,226 onwards.
