The next-generation Hyundai i20 has surfaced online ahead of its global debut, revealing major changes in design and interior features. The i20, which started the premium hatchback segment in India, is set for a significant update. The new model is expected to launch in India by mid-2027, with an estimated starting price of Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom).

- Interior includes curved dual-screen setup and physical controls
- Expected to launch in India by mid-2027 with Rs 8 lakh starting price

Exterior and Interior Design Updates
The leaked images show the 2027 Hyundai i20 with a completely new exterior design. The car appears larger, featuring sharper edges and a boxier stance. At the front, the i20 now has connected LED headlamps and a flatter nose, moving away from the previous drooping profile. The bumper is busier, with chunky cladding and large air dams, adding to its character.
On the side, the i20 displays black cladding, large dual-tone alloy wheels, a sharkfin antenna, and pull-type body-colored door handles. The windowline sharply rakes up towards the rear, giving the car a distinctive look. At the rear, the hatchback features a sleek connected LED taillamp cluster, a sculpted tailgate, thick bumper cladding, and a faux diffuser.
The interior marks a significant departure from previous Hyundai models. The main highlight is a curved dual-screen setup that includes a digital instrument cluster and a touchscreen infotainment system. The centre console features slim vertical AC vents, touch-based climate controls, and charging ports. Physical knobs and controls remain for convenience. The steering wheel is the latest flat-bottom design, similar to those in the Venue and Verna.
Multiple cabin themes are expected, with the leaked images showing a dual-tone beige and grey interior. The cabin uses various textures, including piano black trim and soft-touch materials on the door pads.
Features, Safety, and Powertrain Options
While the full equipment list is not confirmed, the global version could offer dual 12.3-inch screens, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, dual-zone climate control, multiple wireless phone chargers, ventilated and heated front seats, and a single-pane electric sunroof.
Safety features are likely to include multiple airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), hill hold assist, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, all-wheel disc brakes, and an electronic parking brake with auto-hold. It is not yet clear which features will be available in the Indian version.
Hyundai may offer different powertrain options depending on the market. For India, the i20 is expected to continue with the 1.2-liter petrol engine, available with manual and CVT gearbox options. There may also be a sportier N-Line variant with a 1-liter turbo-petrol engine, as seen in the current model. Transmission options include manual, CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission), and DCT (Dual-Clutch Transmission).
Expected Launch and Rivals
The exact launch date for the new Hyundai i20 in India has not been announced. The model is expected to arrive by mid-2027. The i20 will continue to compete with the Maruti Baleno, Tata Altroz, and Toyota Glanza in the premium hatchback segment.
CarBike 360 Says
The leaked images of the 2027 Hyundai i20 suggest a thoughtful evolution rather than a radical overhaul, combining sharper styling with modern features. As Hyundai continues to refine its premium hatchback offering, the updated i20 is expected to strengthen its position in the segment, appealing to buyers looking for a balanced mix of design, technology, and everyday practicality.
