The company aims to address skill gaps and transparency issues in car servicing.
Key Highlights
- CarYaar launches WhatsApp-based car service platform in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
- The platform connects over 50 certified workshops to address skills and transparency gaps.
- India's automobile aftermarket is expected to reach 73000 crore rupees in FY2025.
- The platform enables digital booking, real-time tracking, and unified payments for customers.
Launch Details and Market Context
CarYaar Auto is recognized by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade. The startup is incubated at the Centre for Innovation and Business Acceleration under the Department of Science and Technology and Startup India programs. The company starts with a network of over 50 certified workshops. Its goal is to formalize the fragmented car servicing sector through structured processes, technical skill development, and real-time data transparency.
India’s automobile aftermarket is projected to reach 73,000 crore rupees in fiscal year 2025. The sector is growing at an annual rate of 11.9 percent. Despite this growth, the industry faces challenges such as insufficient formal training for mechanics and a lack of digital billing or inventory systems. Many independent workshops also have opaque pricing, leading to low consumer trust.
Technology Platform and Features
Joel Daniel D'Souza, Co-Founder and Director of CarYaar Auto, said the company was created to bring digital accountability and communication to car servicing. Car owners often lose visibility over their vehicles after handing them over for service. To address this, CarYaar uses a mobile-first, WhatsApp-native software platform. This approach reduces technology barriers for both customers and workshop staff.
The platform allows customers to book appointments, track repair progress, and view photographic evidence of vehicle inspections before and after component replacements. Customers can also approve real-time estimates and make digital payments through a unified payments interface. For workshop staff, the system offers offline-capable applications. These tools eliminate paper-based job cards and help reduce manual diagnostic errors.
Industry Trends and Future Outlook
Strong order books and increased vehicle production are driving new investments in the sector, despite commodity and geopolitical risks. The e-commerce platform has also seen a doubling in motorcycle and scooter transaction volumes, supported by rising adoption of premium vehicles. The company is introducing localized UPI payments, short-term monthly subscriptions, and pay-per-use tokens to streamline operations further and improve the customer experience.
