The table below shows a market where volume leadership remains concentrated at the top, but growth patterns vary sharply across different OEMs and models. Together, the top three models accounted for the bulk of the category’s volume, reinforcing how important value, familiarity, and fleet demand continue to be in this space. Some models, such as the Volkswagen Virtus and Hyundai Verna, saw notable declines despite strong brand positioning. Let's take a closer look at the best-selling sedans in June 2026 in India.
Rank 1: Maruti Suzuki Dzire
The Maruti Suzuki Dzire remained the undisputed leader, with 17,899 units sold in June 2026, compared with 15,484 units a year earlier. That 15.6% growth shows the sedan’s continuing strength in both retail and fleet channels, supported by its wide reach, trust factor, and value-orientated positioning. With a 57.4 percent segment share, the Dzire stayed far ahead of every rival in the list.
Rank 2: Hyundai Aura
Hyundai Aura secured the second spot with 5,977 units, up from 5,413 units last year. The model delivered 10.4% growth and a 19.2% share, which reflects steady demand for a compact sedan that balances practicality with a more premium feel. Its performance suggests Hyundai continues to enjoy a strong presence in the sub-4m sedan space.
Rank 3: Honda Amaze
The Honda Amaze emerged as one of the brighter performers in the report, climbing to 2,937 units from 2,274 units in June 2025. The 29.2 percent jump is the strongest growth among the volume players and highlights renewed interest in the model. With a 9.4% segment share, Amaze reinforced Honda’s relevance in the entry sedan space.
Rank 4: Volkswagen Virtus
The Volkswagen Virtus slipped to 1,195 units from 1,778 units a year earlier, marking a steep 32.8 percent decline. Even so, the sedan retained its identity as one of the more aspirational choices in the category, with 3.8% segment share. The numbers suggest the model remains relevant, but market momentum clearly softened in June.
Rank 5: Skoda Slavia
Skoda Slavia posted a healthier picture, rising to 1,083 units from 896 units in June 2025. The model recorded 20.9 percent growth, making it one of the stronger performers among the midsize sedans. Its 3.5% share may be modest, but the direction is positive and shows the nameplate is building gradual traction.
Rank 6: Honda City
The Honda City improved slightly to 745 units from 709 units last year, delivering 5.1 percent growth. Although the increase is not dramatic, it is important because the City remains one of the most recognisable sedans in India. With 2.4% share, it continues to serve a loyal buyer base in a segment that has become much narrower over time.
Rank 7: Tata Tigor
Tata Tigor finished June 2026 with 602 units, down from 788 units in the same month last year. The 23.6% decline indicates pressure on the model in a market where compact sedan buyers are increasingly concentrated around a few strong alternatives. Its 1.9 percent share shows that the Tigor still has a presence, but the challenge is clearly growing.
Rank 8: Hyundai Verna
The Hyundai Verna sold 554 units in June 2026, compared with 813 units in June 2025, resulting in a 31.9 percent decline. The drop suggests softer demand despite the model’s premium positioning and strong brand visibility. With a 1.8% segment share, Verna remains a notable sedan nameplate, but it faced a difficult month.
Rank 9: Toyota Camry
The Toyota Camry rounded out the top nine with 191 units, up from 180 units a year earlier. The 6.1% growth is small in absolute volume terms, but it still points to stable demand in the premium sedan niche. With a 0.6% share, the Camry continues to operate in a highly specialised corner of the market.
CarBike 360 Says
Maruti Dzire’s dominance in June 2026 highlights the compact sedan’s enduring appeal for value-conscious buyers, while Hyundai Aura and Honda Amaze keep the segment competitive with steady gains and niche strengths. As manufacturers refresh mid-size sedans and buyers weigh efficiency against features, expect shifting shares month to month – but for now the Dzire sets the pace for India’s sedan market.
